514 points there are no phones at the residence hall
and the minute from a cell phone costs 1.25 thats based on AT&T, so keep in mind that its not cheap, so VONAGE is the way to go
no you dont understand hte question...i do not want to get into another debate about if internet phone services are worth it or not
the RH dorms are wired for phones....all you have to do is buy a regular or cordless phone to attach to the wall jack to make calls...
now i want to know if i do buy a regular phone for my room how much will it cost to call the us
that all...how much will it cost to call the us per minute using the dorm room available phone lines.
The dorms do have phone jacks, but even if you have a phone you cannot use it in the dorms. The rooms are NOT wired for outside lines. The only way to make calls from the dorms would either be from your cell phone, or internet phone or whatever, OR from the front desk at the dorms through the payphone up front.
The rates vary by cell phone provider...ATT is the highest at about 55cent/min, Cable Wirless is 35cent/min, and Digicell is 30cents/min.
There is no phone provider in the dorms. Therefore, you would have to get a cell phone in Grand Cayman or bring one from home.Originally Posted by mdMDmd
With Cable & Wireless, it costs me around $.35 to $.45 per minute to call the states.
514 points thats what i meant by no phones, u cannot call outside from them, it used to be used for the calls between the rooms, because that used to be a hotel, so like i said to call outside its gotta be either the internet phone or some other type of phone, like a cell phoneOriginally Posted by mdMDmd
so can we call between rooms without a phone provider?
514 points well if you're planning to hook up a phone in your room only if you want to be calling someone at the end of the hall, then i guess its fine, but I'm guessing that it was disabled, since RH is not a hotel anymore
Once again . . . . there is no phone service (i.e. landline) in the dorms!Originally Posted by qnguyen
80% of students here use cell phones. That is the easiest and most efficient way to communicate with other students and family back at home!
Where on the island do we set up the phone plans for att, digicell, and cayman cable & wireless. I want to set it up before classes start if possible.
