Thread: When did you apply?

I was curious as to when each of you guys applied for your term. Like how many months or weeks prior to your anticipated start date. Just to give the people that are applying an idea of how late they accept students. Thanks!

I applied Spring '07 for May or Fall 07. I got accepted into May 07 but didn't want to start til fall so I started fall 07.

If you don't mind me asking, when in the spring? Like, a month or two before? I know some people who apply like six months before. Are you given the option of applying for two semesters? How did you apply for May and Fall? Thanks for your help!

camry, is it hard to defer to the next semester? did they ask for a specific reason when you did it?

When I asked about deferment, they said if you have a legit reason as to why you can't start they usually give permission. Meaning, I don't think you can defer just because you feel like it.

I see what you mean. I think I applied in Feb for May, it really was that close. Wasn't even expecting an acceptance for May. Certain documents just weren't ready, i.e. my passport, and I think the wait at the time was 6 weeks or so, so they let me wait on that. I think applying 6 months ahead is a smart idea.

yea i would say 6 months prior...that way you can work on all the paper work you need to get and fill out post acceptance...

My friend got accepted to AUA 3 weeks prior to the start of the semester...is that even possible with SMU, or does their process take longer?

It's possible. Especially for May, coz that class usually doesn't fill up.
