Is this discrimation against the other Caribbean schools, Netherland Antilles schools? I have no clue, but I am unhappy, because the school I will attend in September, has nota thing! let's keep this thread on funding ideas for SMU students. this is an important thread, uh-hem "sticky status", so some posts may end up getting deleted if they don't pertain to this topic at hand.

Think Financial is no longer doing private student loans for grad students (MBA) starting in July

Have any Fall 08 newcomers signed up to do Davenport? I signed up and will be taking a class in July, but I'm worried about committing to the program without knowing anything about SMU's loan situation...

I am a new Fall '08 student, and I am doing the Davenport program. From my understanding, the loans for the MBA program come from the federal government and are not privately funded.

If you do Davenport, you wont need a private lender to fund the MBA, because they actually give the maximum amount of federal loans so that you can pay for the MBA, and alot left over to pay for living expenses at SMU. Essentially if you do the Davenport program, you will only need private loans to pay for SMU Tuition some Rooming.

If your eligible for government loans...you will get a good amount with Davenport. Loans are loans, but I 'd like to use as much gov't money as I can, and use the private loans to pay for SMU tuition and first year in the dorms.

yeah but u have to pay tuition and rooming and living and thats like 15G total.

the dav govt loans only kick you back about 7G per semester. you can take more with CampusDoor/Next Student. also i heard iChase gives you like 15. with a good cosigner you can get amazing rates and no origination fee.
