Thanks for everyone who is trying to keep the thread on topic. I can't be here every waking moment--this darn med school.

I think the administration just found out today. The loan situation is bad. I wish there was an easy fix.

Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code permits "reorganization" under the bankruptcy laws; in contrast, to Chapter 7 which governs the process of a "liquidation".

Hopefully, TERI will find another backer!

Maybe the government will bail TERI out like they did Bear-Stern?

Maybe the government will bail me out... I'll gladly give my nearly 3 years of medical school in exchange for a clean slate. Med school is starting to look like a major mistake. For now everyone, just roll with the punches.

I just did a google and found some new info about a possible guarantor for TERI loans. There are no guaruntees in the articles but at least they are working on it. Maybe they can be saved like Countrywide was saved by Bank of America. Sorry I don't have enough posts to publish links but you can copy and past.

Good luck

We can all say a lot about teri going under... but the fact is that teri does not approve a lot of people even with good credit or even when you have a co-signer with good credit...

i want to know what the school is doing to get a new loan provider... at a time like this, the admin is sitting there quietly, not informing us of what to expect and what to do… are they working with someone else? Who are they working with? What’s the progress?

Even if Teri survives, a lot of students still can’t use them because they are too strict… so again! What is the school doing?

The school just found out today…Yet, they did not send out an email to inform the students of this situation… I’m sure not all the students at SMU read valuemd… so this means that a lot of students have no idea what’s going on and the school is not taking any initiative to keep students informed…

Well teri going under isnt official. Seems like they wont go under. They have to much finances. Seems like who ever runs Teri actually did a good job in preparing teri for a situation like this.

Maybe the school wants to check with TERI before they release anything to students. Why send a letter to students when if the information has not been varified.

We also have to realize that it is possible that the school did not tell us anything because they didn't know anything. Lets stop assuming that the school is withholding information from us.

Ok… I’ll give it to them that they wanted to get it verified before they send out an email but according to UFTim, the school did find out today but ok! I’ll give to them that they want to make sure before they send out an email.
If you read my previous post, I did say that even if Teri survives, it still does not help a lot of students because teri is too strict. So my concern was:
1. what is the school doing to get a new loan provide?
2. are they doing anything about it at all?
