Electives Electives Electives
Sorry for posting here, but there seems to be a glitch, and I'm not able to post under "Clinicals"
So, a few questions about scheduling electives: - Can we rotate thru private practices, or must it be thru a hospital or university? -Are we eligible to apply for visiting electives even if the school website states "LCME" only? Are there ever any exceptions made? - For Mt. Sinai (and others) must we apply as "foreign" students? Since our school has an affiliation is the $300 application fee waived? - Family Practice- any good sites for recommendation? Anyone had any great/horrible experiences? This is the last core that I need to schedule, and I'd like any advice. Thanks! Last edited by hobogumm; 03-11-2008 at 04:06 PM. |

Are there ever any exceptions made? Exceptions are rarely (if ever) made when it says "LCME only." - For Mt. Sinai (and others) must we apply as "foreign" students? Can we rotate thru private practices, or must it be thru a hospital or university? Sure you can…however, the responsibility of being green falls on you. If you go to smuonline you will see that plenty of students have rotated through private practice setting...
Are we eligible to apply for visiting electives even if the school website states "LCME" only? Are there ever any exceptions made? There are a number of ways you can apply when it says only LCME. One way is to have a connection. Another way is to have a faculty sponsor, etc. I have scheduled two electives at only LCME schools with a little leg work. For Mt. Sinai (and others) must we apply as "foreign" students? Since our school has an affiliation is the $300 application fee waived? There is a fee waiver/ fee deduction for SMU students at Mt. Sinai. PM for details..dont have the info in front of me. - Family Practice- any good sites for recommendation? Anyone had any great/horrible experiences? This is the last core that I need to schedule, and I'd like any advice. As far as cores….? Cant really help you with this one…my FP was in Chicago and I had a great experience.
