Very promising updates from SMU Chancellor...

Well, I am sure by now most of you have read your emails and have been uplifted by the loads of great news announced to us by the SMU Chancellor (92% pass rate, residencies in top institutions, renting more space, purchasing more equipment, signing 40% more hospitals). It is really good to hear all this...

Just thought it would be nice for the school to update all this info on their website (especially the new hospital affiliations) so that we all can see the words before our very eyes. Hope the updates come soon enough...

well aparently the smu chancelor only wants us to know what he wants to tell us, he claims there is some kind of open door policy, but HEAVEN FORBID they actually tell us things that are going on with the school... Whats going on with Cali? Why is it all of the sudden a big problem to tell what is going on with the school??? Why is the school spending money on things we dont need instead of things we actually need??? What new equipment are we getting??? Our clinical skills lab looks like abandoned material left over from a doctors office that was destroyed in the hurricane.... Its sad to say that Ross has a better clinical skill department than we do...They raised our tuition so why not give us something for it instead of new lockers when the old ones were perfectly fine and the last thing needing replacement around here.

As far as the email I feel it was a forced response after their handout got into the hands of students... They apparently read SMU but refuse to comment on here or anywhere about the concerns that are raised.

You have proved to be a very aggravating person on here, I'm all psyched about your enthusiasm and high hopes for the school and everything as well, but the truth is you dont go here yet and once you get down here maybe you will realize a little better how things really happen.. the school overall is great, but we get nothing in return for our increase tuition, we get mail 2 weeks later than when it actually arrives, we get professional $.10 id's that are made on a printer and come from the grocery store here, yet we get things like new lockers instead of maybe a dummy simulator like Ross has so we can be better prepared for clinicals or instead of more online medical subscriptions. Im not looking or asking for leather couches or padded seats (even though its ridiculous that we have the crap seats we have) just something to improve our medical preparedness

ok ok I see what you mean but cheap id? I know its good feeling to have a nice plastic credit card type of id but fact is you do not,,so what..do you really need one now to feel important,,maybe they are working on it? simulator would be nice but sometimes all the fancy stuff is not necessary but I see what you mean,,ross also charges a lot more than smu so maybe thats why they have it and smu doesn t yet? I don t know but to complain about trivial things like this is a complete waste of time for all

If you feel so strongly about Ross having "superior" facilities, then by all means transfer there. All the points you made I'm sure the administration is aware of and hopefully will address. Your approach in itself is abrasive and counter-productive. You will only be in Cayman for 16 months for basic sciences then you are off to clinicals. Why waste your energy? Many people just come on here to whine, and it is getting sickening. I have to agree with DrJJ1 on this one. Learn to become an independent learner and you will succeed in any environment. There has been people before you and many more after you that have come and gone through the Cayman campus and will succeed. Just roll with the punches. People need to put on some manpants.

That is a common complaint at Ross. Get used to it. It is rampant in all Carib schools. Make sure you pass all your class so you can graduate on time.

please dont let me get started on you, it would be just another reason for you to use you big bad banning ability, if i wanted to go to ross i would have, again im not complaining about the school in a whole, i like the school, there is no reason for us to get useless crap we dont need instead of stuff that will help us, i am an independent learner, but you need materials to learn and without those you look like a complete idiot in rotations, we already have it bad enough to be coming from a carribbean school, but i dont want to look retarded and give them satisfaction
