what i intended with my comments was that the curve was ridiculous and embarassing REGARDLESS of how i did...just out of disclosure, i added that it helped me out, but that is besides the point. (how could a 16 point curve not help?). i was fine without the curve (yes i failed, but it was a hard test). i was just stating that a 16 point curve is excessive...a 17 point curve is excessive, a 14 point curve is excessive...(i can keep going here, but i HOPE you get my point). ANY curve in the teens, IN MY OPINION, is just not the way to do it.
and out of full disclosure so i dont get attacked anymore, i got a 67. so its not like i needed 13 points, but got pissed about 16...and im not gonna stand up and say that they should take back the points...i understand that alot of people didnt do as well as they deserved and needed some points...but to argue for MORE after getting 12 free questions was just rude.

and if you only needed ONE more point to be in a comfortable place...i think you can handle it. and also, on my "renegade and greedy" behavior, i discussed with three people in the immediate vacinity of me in the classroom and they agreed that asking for more points in addition to the 16 already given was "greedy" and "embarassing". (but i dont want to get into name calling, it doesnt solve anything. im sorry if i offended anyone, dont take it personally. i was just appalled at the time)
and now that i think of it...if you were passing before this exam, anything above a 50 (pre-curve) isnt going to hurt a huge deal (it wont help, thats for sure, but its not going to singlehandedly ruin the class for you). and if youre not in that category, and got below a 50%...then a curve should be the least of your concerns.
and lastly, since this is running long...im not some pretentious arrogant honor student that doesnt understand when people have troubles...ive failed my share of classes, i know what it feels like to bomb a test. but i was just trying to say that we should be thankful for a huge curve and not turn around and attack the man for not giving us more free points...i thought it was rude...and now im done talking.

so now you and the rest of the population of the school can stone me to death for being to selfish and greedily-minded...go for it
em.. i think i did mis understood you.. didnt mean to attack you... but i think that a 16 point curve ( btw, i passes without the curve ) was not enough because he had about 40 questions in there... if he had 40 BRS/Kaplan/USMLE style questions... i know i would have made a 90+... i studied my butt off for last block... just to find out that the prof decided to go by his own format and ignore everything else...

again, i'm sorry for mis-understanding you

Re:

I agree in some aspects. Test was too hard and in style we didn’t expect. No doubt about it, but 16 points is 16 points. This brings class average to around 70 if I’m not mistaken, so what more can one possibly want. I thought that people were joking when they asked for additional points.... But again, English is also my 2nd language, maybe it was me who misunderstood.

There was not much time for me to finish either, yes, but I would be very surprised if they’ll give us extra minutes on Step 1. In average you get one minute and a couple of seconds per question, that’s it. Better start dealing with that now...

To be fair, I should also note that I perfectly understand every single word that all 3 professors say. I don’t think their English is a reason for low grade – I see that as a shady excuse, there are always power points, BRS and Kaplan….

a SIXTEEN point curve was added to the grades, which in my opinion is ridiculous, bad teacher or not.
and in my opinion, the teacher was not good, told us to study things that werent on the test...

The 16 points make the average 77...without curve it was 61.

Like I said in a previous post..... Some people understand everything while others do not. Personally I don't understand half of what's being said but I do use my other resources and I can read the powerpoints. As for the 16 point curve.... I think that was good. I mean 16 points is alot however my issue is that has nothing to do with the questions that we feel are arguable. There were two questions that were in disagreement from the powerpoints. One in Cardio and one in Respitory but the 16 points didn't take those questions into consideration. That's where my problem comes in with the point situation.
