Ross vs SMU

I would like to have some info on SMU from some people on this post, from what I gathered from reading some of these posts, some on this website belive SMU is inferior to Ross, I would have to disagree with that for numerous reasons, Ross has a great deal of money, they used that money for advertizing and lobyists, they have the largest entering class of any american or carribean school, that does not make them the best, take it from someone who went there

Let's see. Ross = 50 states

St. Matt's = Failed Cali review (plus a handfull of other states)

That means St. Matts in quite inferior

Ross has been around for quite sometime and it has over 4500 graduates. It is also approved in all of the states. Although SMU is good school, it is relatively new and it will probably take some time to build reputation and get CA approval.

Saba has been around for 20 years, SMU since 1997. SMU is a new school, but we are on the the right tract.

profile of SMU

-2 campus, one in Cayman, one in Maine with MHSA concurrent program
-over 22 hospitals affiliation in the U.S. and U.K.
-Great island to live in
-5th semester takes place in Hospital in Grand Cayman with U.K. standard and technology.

down side
-not CA approved
-small facilities
-teaching quality in Cayman campus is certainly not at U.S. standard compared to Maine's teaching site (mainly because Cayman's teachers are majority not trained in U.S.)
-TOO EXPENSIVE ISLAND!!!

IF I HAVE CHANCE TO MAKE MY CHOICES AGAIN, IT WILL CERTAINLY NOT BE SMU, IN FACT NOT IN CARRIBEAN ANYWAYS!

hope that helps!

Saba had its first class in 1993. Check your facts.

Classes starting in 2002 are approved for Cali license.

That is pretty new.

Why would SMU ask for a review if they were not ready. That is the school's fault.

When I see an SMU grad practicing (not clinicals, residency, fellowship, etc.), actually PRACTICING in a certain state, then I will believe SMU is qualified for that state.

So true, SABA is not much older than SMU. Why could they get it done and not SMU! But, we have to remember there is always tomorrow. So, you never know what can happen in the future. SMU continues to improve, and who knows.

Exactly. If the top 4 do not want you, then SMU is the next step after Ross MERP. We agree.

Get over yourself. Ross is a good school, but the island is terrible. SMU is on a lot nicer and safer island. Cali. doesn't affect me so it doesn't bother me at all. Georgia will never have a problem with a gradute from SMU and that is all that matters to me. SMU is on the rise and will continue to do so.

Said the man who couldn't get into Ross.

No logical person would miss out on all 50 states for 2 years on a 'nicer island'...lol
