I have checked our records and St. Martinus University is not on the list of medical schools that the Board has previously considered. The Board considers each application individually. Since the Board has not previously considered an application from that school, they would need considerable information from the school regarding the education.

Dear ********:

I will answer your questions with the proviso that all applicants are reviewed on an individual basis so there is no guarantee of licensure in Oklahoma.

Is St. Martinus University ACCREDIATED BY OK MEDICAL BOARD?

1. No. The Oklahoma Medical Board does not accreditation and medical school. The board uses a standard of equivalency based on a similar education at the Oklahoma University School of Medicine. Due to the lack of any formal recognized accreditation process for foreign medical schools, the attendee takes a significant risk in that the specific school in question may not be equivalent or even well known.

Can graduates of St. Martinus University apply for Licensure in OK?

2. Any graduate may apply for a license in Oklahoma...obtaining a medical license is based on the quality of all the information. (I am not trying to be coy, but there is no assurance of licensure)

3) Can graduates of St. Martinus University apply for residency in OK?

4) Can students of St. Martinus University complete their clinical core rotations in OK?

5) Can students of St. Martinus University eligible to apply for electives in OK?

3, 4 & 5 need to be answered by someone else as we do not determine the acceptance into a residency program... only the training license in order to start residency.

I suggest you talk with Dr. ******* - john-zubialde@ouhsc.edu as he will be able to answer your questions or know who can.

Dear Sir/Madam:

In reference to your e-mail received on this date, I reviewed the WHO Director and the only accredited medical school in Netherlands Antilles is Saba School of Medicine.

You may wish to visit the Board's web site at www.oregon.gov/bme and select the Rules and Statutes Link. At this link you could then review Oregon's Administrative Rules regarding licensure requirements for international graduates.

You are correct. Sorry for my mistake. In addition to the accredited school, you also must have ECFMG Certification, USMLE (all three Steps) and three years of AMA accredited postgraduate training in the United States.

Our Board does not accredit schools. If you graduate from that school AND MEET OUR REQUIREMENTS, we will issue a license. Students enrolled in unaccredited schools are not allowed to do clinical rotations in PA. Our requirements are posted at www.dos.state.pa.us/med

1) Is St. Martinus University ACCREDIATED BY TEXAS MEDICAL BOARD?
2) Can graduates of St. Martinus University apply for Licensure in TEXAS ?Bottom of Form

Questions 1-2:

At this time there is no list of schools from which the board will or will not license. Each applicant for licensure is considered on their own in regard to whether or not their particular medical education meets board rules and Texas law.

There is however a list of Medical Schools that do not have to prove substantial equivalence. This list is subject to change and TSBME may still require graduates of schools on this list to provide additional information about their medical education.

This list is available at: http://www.tsbme.state.tx.us/professionals/docinfo/doclic.htm

Question 3: Can graduates of St. Martinus University apply for residency in TEXAS?

Substantial equivalence is not a requirement for obtaining a physician in training permit. You will need to contact the residency programs you are interested in to determine their eligibility requirements.

4) Can students of St. Martinus University complete their clinical core rotations in TEXAS ?
5) Can students of St. Martinus University eligible to apply for electives in TEXAS ?

Questions 4-5:

In regard to your question concerning required clinical rotations, the board's rules require that you must complete the following clinical rotations -

Internal Medicine
Surgery
Pediatrics
OB/GYN
Psychiatry
Family Practice

The board's rules do not specifically lay out the number of weeks for each clinical rotation, however, your total medical education must be at least 130 weeks in length. All clinical rotations (required and elective) during the 130 weeks required, that are performed in the United States must be performed in hospitals that have an ACGME or AOA approved residency in the same subject area.

Should you choose to perform clinical rotations in Texas, you must be enrolled in a Texas medical school as a visiting student.

4) Can students of St. Martinus University complete their clinical core rotations in VT? See the note above about hospitals

5) Can students of St. Martinus University eligible to apply for electives in VT? You would need to check with the training hospital, see the number above

Virginia will accept an application for licensure from a graduate of any school listed with AMA or WHO. The Board does not accredit medical schools or set requirements for clinical rotations or graduate training. State regulations do say that clinical rotations served in the US as part of the curriculum of an international medical school must be completed in institutions that have approved residencies in the rotations specialty area.

This Board does not accredit individual schools. Currently, the only

school not accepted is San Juan Bautista in Puerto Rico. As long as

you

meet the requirements for licensure, the school should be accepted by

this Board. As for electives, clinical rotations and residencies, we

do

not have anything to do with those. You would need to check with the

school.

Dear Dr. *********

I have never heard of St. Martinus University. At this time, it is not on the Board's list of questionable medical schools,

which changes frequently.

You may apply for licensure if you wish.

You have to contact the individual residencies to ask for their requirements.

You have to talk to St. Martinus University about where to perform electives and clinical core rotations.
