Thread: Clinical Exposure

If I were to use three words to sum up my first clinical experience, it would be nervousness and excitement, with relief. It was my first time visiting the clinic, so I was filled with nervousness and excitement in anticipation of the experience. I did not know what to expect and it was finally time to apply my knowledge. I can recall myself reviewing and revising my notes of the basic physical examination procedures in order to be better prepared in front of the patient. Despite all the reviewing and revising, I was so nervous that all the preparation flew out the window. On the bright side of things, as the examination proceeded I felt more and more comfortable. By the time the examination ended, I felt a great sense of relief because I knew that things went well. It was definitely an eye-opening experience because I saw how what was taught in the classroom actually applied in a real life scenario. The key point that I gained through this experience is that medicine is definitely an art; with any art, in order to perfect it, practice is necessary.

Well this clinical exposure pertains to the students hospital visits in the island. Only SMU is allowed to visit the hospital and rotate.

Clinical rotations : 7 students in Michigan
: 1 student in Atlanta
: 1 student in Maryland
: 11 students various year of residency
: 2 completing paper work for being board certified
: 3 students pursuing medicine in Holland

Are these rotations ACGME approved? Which are the hospitals in Atlanta & Maryland? Are they just Electives or Core Rotations?

what hospital in MD

Please call the clinical dean and or ask the school to talk to residents in MD, CT, NC, OH, IL and NY or Holland and Canada. Talk to students in GA, MI, CO and LA. Rather then second guessing call and talk to them.

I called Dr P and asked him to talk to some students. I did talk to students doing rotations in MI and GA.
My parents talked to the residents in MD , NC and OH.
I will worry about it when my time comes. So for now I am good.

I met with miss In** M** who is doing her rotations in Curacao and doing some reasearch.

When will you realize that universe is larger than USA? The civilization does not start in NY and ends at LA. Grow up.
