Smu, Doa

Three experienced professors left in February taking with them Anatomy, Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology. In July the last two good professors left taking with them Immunology, Histology, Neurosciences and Physiology. Another professor of anatomy was fired in February. There was a starting staff of about eight I hear, but two administrative assistants, the computer guy, two facilities guys, and the librarian left or were fired. I donīt know which. There is now one secretary in the office. Thatīs it, nobody else. Birch is in the states. The students run the library. The student rep claims those professors have been replaced, NOT accurate, and except for Birch, none of the staff have been replaced. When the genetics professor left, his course was taken by the histology professor, and the neurosciences professor took biochemistry. The assistant physio-micro professor is supposed to teach almost everything now. Thatīs not replacement. One of the new replacement professors is a relative of the backer with no obvious teaching experience, and the remaining faculty are either inexperienced or do not know their subjects very good, with the exception of the Pathology Professor, who is cool. The claim by the school rep that a pre-med program exists is also a lie. There are no pre-med students here now. The schools of Veterinary medicine, Nursing and dentistry that are on the web site also never existed, or a program in hyperbaric medicine. The school is shrinking, the backer rents school space out to retail shops. The school is over a cafe, a cell phone shop and market, and the spaces promised for faculty offices have been rented out. The problem is that the financial backer wonīt keep promises. He bounced checks off of the faculty and the good ones left because they didnīt believe they were going to be paid or didnīt believe he was serious about having a real school. The ones that stayed - you guess why. Students are leaving, with the exception of the students in the fourth semester who are almost through this mess, and the locals who are charity cases and canīt go anywhere else. The backer now has to hire a whole faculty for four or five semesters, with a student body of probably under twenty. The school started out really good, but bad management drove the good teaching away. The students are going too. If St. Martinus survives it will be a dog like Spartan or St. James. It isnīt accredited anywhere in the states. If you pay tuition to these people, you may be losing your money.

I Didn't do my Homework!

Hello everyone!

I applied to St. Martinus for May 2005 without really researching the school. I applied as a last resort, hoping my 1st and 2nd choices wouldn't fall through. As I have done my research, I have concluded that I would probably stay here in the states, polish my resume and grades, and apply elsewhere before I would attend St. Martinus.

Recently I was accepted at St. Matthew's University, and am still waiting to hear from AUC. I don't mean to badmouth any school, but I wouldn't recomend attending St. Martinus.

STATUS OF SMU

HELLO FRIENDS
I WANT TO CLARIFY WHAT EVER SOMEONE HAS WRITTEN ABOUT ST. MARTINUS UNIVERSITY IS TOTALLY FALSE.I WILL SAY THAT THE ALLEGATION MADE BY THE PERSON ARE TOTALLY FALSE AND BIASED.IF U SEE THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE STUDENTS.AS ALL THE STUDENTS WHO STUDY IN CARRABEAN MEDIACAL SCHOOL DO TALK LIKE THIS.THE PROBLEM IS NOT WITH THE UNIVERSITY BUT THE STUDENTS AS DO NOT FIND THE ENVERIONMENT OF THEIR HOME COUNTRY AND KEEP ON TRANSFERRING FROM ONE SCHOOL TO OTHER LIKE MONKEYS AND TALK RUBISH ABOUT THE SCHOOLS.
IF U SEE IN ALL UNIVERSITIES OF WORLD PROFESSORS DO COME AND LEAVE THE UNIVERSITY AND ALSO THEY ARE REPLACED WITH TIME AND THATS WHAT IS GOING IN ST. MARTINUS UNIVERSITY.THEY HAVE VERY ELIGIBLE,TALENTED &HARD WORKING STAFF.
EVERY UNIVERSITY WETHER IN USA , UK ,OR EUROPE HAS A CANTEEN AND FEW SHOPS AROUND AND INSIDE THE UNIVERSITY SO THAT STUDENTS ARE BENEFITTED BY THAT THEY DONT HAVE TO WALK LONG DISTANCE TO BUY ANTTHHING.
ST. MARTINUS DO HAVE A PREMED PROGRAM.
I AM SURE AND CONFIDENT THAT IN THE COMING YEARS ST. MARTINUS WILL EMERGE AS ONE OF THE BEST CARRABEAN UNIVERSITY WITH LOTS OF OPTIONS FOR STUDENTS FOR DOING THEIR CLINICALS AROUND THE WORLD.AND THEY DO HAVE NOW ALSO.
THE TEACHING IN ST. MARTINUS IS EXCELLANT AND SO IS THE EXPOSURE.THEY HAVE BEST INFRASTRUCTURE AND IN COMING YEARS IT WILL BE MUCH MORE BETTER WITH LOTS OF STUDENTS FROM ALLOVER WORLD.
I CAN SAY ST. MARTINUS IS BEST.
ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN ST. MARTINUS AS CURACAO IS ONE OF THE BIGEST AND BEAUTIFUL ISLAND IN DUTCH CARRABEAN.
WITH ST. ELIZABETH HOSPITAL AS STARS ON IT.
THANKS

what, exactly, is false? did you mis-read the notice? There are alot of students who find themselves in institutions viable but not compatible to their personal/private life. those students may want to consider transferring to, note the to! this institution. my suggestion is to pm me or to directly contact the school (or any school for that matter) to see if this is a viable option! do you not agree?

white elephant

Everything said was true. The President of the executive board of directors (LOL) , never pays anyone. Not surprising that the students are stuck with very little. Practically all the students are on a free ride or a charity one. The school has been banned from AMSA, congratulations Dr. Hawkins for your brilliant performance in Washington.
As for the lies, Oleandergarden, you will get used to it. (Go to the post where the administrator talks about clinicals in Chicago, NewYork and Atlanta). The first 2 cities are not mentioned anymore in a recent posting.
The lying reflects what Martinus in wonderland... a fraud "Alice wake up"
