I was wondering if anybody has heard of St. Martinus University School of Medicine in the Caribbean. Haven't heard that much about it and was wondering if anybody has.
Does anyone have any info on this school? Can anyone give a history of this school? How long has it been going? Is it a good school? Anything? Everything?

Here is a little history of St Martinus-- a little tit bit like the ones you see on tv and some magazines.

This time last year there was much talk on this Martinus forum about a buy out of Martinus by Manipal.

Since I have known about Martinus there has always been talk about buy outs and mergers, and associations with real established universities.

In October 2004 St Martinus sought to merge with the younger AUA, but failed to reach an agreement, because St Martinus thought that its physical plant was God’s gift to the world. St Martinus remains a school of less than 100 students on campus, whereas AUA has grown to a current enrollment of over 1000 students on campus, and has actually now been recently bought by MANIPAL!

In November/December 2004 St Martinus sought to merge with Wykoff with the hope of getting NY accreditation and clinical sites in that state. That was a no go too.

In late December 2004 when Kijezi closed in England, St Martinus sought to lure their hapless students to Curacao to no avail. Not a single person was interested.

In January 2005, St Martinus sought an association with Grand Canyon University in Az- again without any sucess. In later years St Martinus sought to lure the students from the failed St Christopher and give them fake transcripts as can be seen on the appropriate thread on this forum. They were advised against such fraudulent and unethical behavior. Then they joined forces with George Mason U of Virginia, but the students up there in VA have not exactly been flocking to Otrabanda.

Why is it that St Martinus cannot grow or attract students in the kind of numbers that will serve as an enticement for others to come to their school? Do you know?

He has a huge grudge against this small Caribbean school, and he will write at least 10 page to prove he is correct but it will all be lies.

Let the reliable source that told you that they were glad when I left the school how many year/years I spent at St Martinus and when it was.

THAT IS A FACT ! N S had several meetings at St Martinus. This cannot be denied. Ask Congoman. They were going to call the school the American University of Curacao. There should be an early post on the AUA forum by one of our staff members who querried the truth of the merger then.

2 St Martinus remains a school of less than 100 students on campus, whereas AUA has grown to a current enrollment of over 1000 students on campus, and has actually now been recently bought by MANIPAL! At that time I personally spoke to the man from Wykoff long before the Dean knew the man was around. That was funny ! On that I suggested to the President JD that he make a Dr the Dean in order to get the NY accreditations, rather than the PhD he had as Dean who knew nothing. It was me the King Maker that recommended that EES be made Dean at that time. This came to pass the last day of that term at a meeting in the restaurant downstairs. That was a fun day. It was all set up by Congoman.

Unfortunately I cant list here the names of the folk that were present.

Iswiltshire is a lier and there is no truth to anything he says, he just makes up things. I would not listen to one thing he says. He will tell you he taught at SMU and then he left, but that was years ago, and from what I was told, by a very reliable source, they where very glad he left the school. He will lie more than anyone I have ever seen on this site. He has a huge grudge against this small Caribbean school, and he will write at least 10 page to prove he is correct but it will all be lies. He is a bitter teacher from another school trying to hurt SMU, I garentee you this. By the way can you please tell us how many year/years you where at SMU and what year was it.

Any substance to the rumor that new students (and perhaps existing students) will be shipped to St. Martinus University on Curacao in January due to the poor relationship with the current Antiguan government? Anyone know anything?

The thread ends with this note which notes that punjabibossmd who had transferred to AUA from SJMS knew G R who as he correctly stated was indded a SJSM dropout then a teacher/student at St Martinus.

Typical surfergene spreading rumours. The funny thing is this guy who is SJSM dropout is now a teacher/student at St Martinus.

Facts are Surfergene was not spreading rumors he was trying to ascertain if the AUA students had heard of the intended merger, just as we had been told of the possibility in the staff meeting. Off course this mere AUA student had heard nothing yet because the deal was being negotiated.

I wonder why you think that I should shut up when I am simply supplying people with what seems to be accurate information about your shady school. Should I shut up because the truth hurts and offends you? I am so very sorry, but I cant do that.

Ithen exposed you as the liar by immediately posting two letters from important St Martinus persons at the TIME that I left the school that indicate that your reliable sources were biased and incorrect. I then gave credence to my allegations about attempted associations with real established universities by citing well know links on valueMD to attest to the accuracy of my allegations. Meanwhile you have not proved that I have a huge grudge against your school as you suggest, and I did not respond with ten pages as you predicted, but in my response I exposed your acute hatred for a man whom you have not met. In your rambling pithy puerile post you indicate that it is you that is in another world, as you have said absolutely NOTHING, and as you rightly said, you have wasted the time you took to respond.

St Martinus advertises that it has been offering quality education for 150 years! So clearly, 2004 was not so long ago in that context as you opine. Unless the school is owned by ghosts, your argument about different owners and different staff members is also not worthy of truth or validity, to quote you.
