Is it true...
"Campuses
The home campus of St. Martinus University is located in Curacao in the Caribbean. It is here that the St. Martinus College was first founded in 1842. In 2000 the College became a Health Sciences University " Could anyone elaborate if the college was founded in 1842? Thanks |

The current medical school began operation in late 2002 or early 2003. St. Martinus "college" previous to that was founded as a parochial for girls by a Catholic order of nuns. The word "college" has various meanings depending on the language being used, and on Curacao there are four: Dutch, Papimento, Spanish and English. in Dutch and English it means college, in Spanish it means 'school" or typically "high school". Papimento is a mix with heavy influence of Spanish. The implication that the medical school has been in operation that long can be read in to the description, and it should be rewritten to clarify that there is no vestige of the previous school left at St. Martinus University School of Medicine, other than the exterior facade of the buildings. The interiors were gutted, rebuilt and redecorated to suit a medical school. For example, an anatomy lab with a walk in cooler for cadaver storage was installed in 2003. New hardwood floors were put in, classrooms equipped and expanded with computers and overhead LCD projectors. If you visit, there may be some of the old dorm spaces still left un-converted there, and it is quite interesting to see the old architecture. It was even possible to sneak up into the steeple (or at least it once was).

So far as I can tell, OK. The school is young. They have put their first graduate into a residency. I can't say more than that, objectively. I am still not employed by them, but I will arrive May 25. I have another offer. We will see how it goes.
