US Loan Program

"We are happy to inform you that SJSM has been approved for the “Loan to Learn” Student Loan Program. The program is available to US students. The application process is available at the lender’s website www.loantolearn.com When asked for the school’s country, select Netherlands Antilles. Follow the rest of the application to complete the process. Specific information about the loan can be found at www.loantolearn.com/products/loan_to_learn.asp or contact the Lender at (800) TO LEARN."

loan program

From what I have been reading it is important to see a loan program available for the Saint James students. Perhaps more loan programs will develop for Carribean student again.

Glimmer of hope.

This is good news because it would enhance the number of intake per entering class. But there is still need for SJSM to have other alternative loan programs for its students. The Keybank issue should serve as a learning lesson.

Therefore to avoid being boxed into a corner, more loan programs should be looked into in no distant period.

i am a prospective saint james student, had my interview today and the interviewer suggested that i look in to loans with saliemae and loan to learn. i am still not sure if i am in yet even though she did say that there was no reason for saint james not to except me. anyways i did apply for the loan, and got rejected even with my parents co-signing! what other options do i have to apply for a loan and does the financial aid office really help you with the process?? pretty stressed out about this loan issue, any help would be great! thanks in advance!!

first find out why u got rejected...and then try to fix it....if that fails...there are some other options available....depends if u are american or canadian....better to call and discuss it with the financial aid department....

Was it Sallie Mae? You should pull a credit report from all 3 reporting agencies cause one collection, even if it is BlockBuster Movies can ruin it for you.

Good credit is a credit score of 650 or better for all the loans.

Also if your credit cards are high then that makes your score low.

Student loan

I had applied for my loan with four different co-signers and finally one of them got accepted and I believe that his score was close to or over 800. They do look at your credit as well but heavily rely on co-signers credit. If you have an excellent credit and the co-signer has a fair to good credit it is difficult to get approved. What I found out is that you need a very strong co-signer regardless of your credit histroy because it is a foreign school and they want to have someone to go after in case of a default. I have used the same co-signers for US schools and have been approved but got rejected for St. James. So, try anyone and everyone who is willing to help you and hopefully someone will get accepted.

Best wishes.
