i stil believe st james will become (and already maybe) the quintessential caribbean medical school. it will be state-of-the-art. it will be the model for all other medical schools. it will be the center of the universe.

3 things to do when arriving in Bonaire

Seriously:

1) Get some Off or other mosquito repellant.
2) Get started in a set study schedule.
3) Go the la favorita and get the chinese chicken noodle, extra hot!

Try China Nobo. Waiman's Beef Cut Small became a staple in my diet.

Cool Being a Great doctor

Well I disagree with you. I think the biggest advantage of Caribean Med schools is the fact that they offer clinicals in the U.S. Practicing in a country where you wanna practice is a big plus. On top of that IT DOESNT MATTER WHERE YOU GRADUATE FROM. I know people who graduated from caribean schools I've never heard of and still gotten into great residency programs. I think the major factor in getting into residency is your board scores. A great board score is equivalent to someone going to Rush or Hopkins or wherever. It shows that you grasp the concepts that you need to be a good doctor. A great doctor well thats gonna take some time and hard work. ONE more thing and EDUCATION IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT NOT WHERE YOU WENT TO SCHOOL.

the fact is, the worst US school on probation is MILES ahead of the education that st james will provide for you.

additionally, even if you are the most brilliant doctor in the world, and could learn medicine inside and out in a dark closet armed with harrisons and a flashlight, your degree from st james would be worthless in many states and certainly not helpful in getting you a residency.

so, you can go to st james. but, no matter how hard you work and how smart you are, you will ALWAYS be at a disadvantage. period. even if you are the best.

the smart person looks for value. value of the degree that you recieve is important. and, yes, the name recognition of the school, the ability to get licensed in states, the track record of the grads all have value. all you get from st james is a seat in the usmle. st james offers nothing more than the worst schools out there, and a LOT less than most of the decent schools.
