Passed USMLE Step 1

I recieved my scores today and I passed Step 1. Yeah. A weight off my shoulders!

Honestly, I recommend taking at least 5-6 weeks to take the exam after leaving school. But, what the heck, I passed!

Dr. Ron....hope to see you soon!

To all my friends on Bonaire, I'm not sure how ya'll knew I passed before I did, but I'm sure glad that rumor was true! lol

keep in touch!

scores

I guess you could say I came out of hiding today....lol. The waiting is the hardest part. I'm sure you did well too.

I think that our class was definately the best at St. James so far. We hung in through the tough times. Unlike others who abandoned ship at the site of a few problems, the last class stuck it out and helped build a better St. James by working with administration. Anyone breathing (literally) can walk across the island and apply to another school, or even island hop for that matter. It's easy to blame others for our own short comings rather than buckle down and study the harder. Or heaven forbid, ask a professor for help. Personally, I was happy when a teacher or student left. Commitment is required in medical school and the people who left I feel were bringing us down by their negative attitudes. How can one so expect so much when they are willing to give so little? My grandma told me, "You get out of something what you put into it." I hope you, me, and the others in our class have shown that when you give 110%, you get that back. Honestly, I'm glad to see the negative continue to leave our school. The positive, smart, hard working students continue to prevail as shown by the schools board passing rate. We are the future of St. James. The school gives us the opportunity. It is up to us to seize it and make our dreams come true!

Ironically, I never had time to post or even read the messages on Bonaire. I was too busy studying! As I read the postings, I find it humorous that some people just cannot let go and move on with their lives. Takes a weak person to slam a strong school. Especially knowing the exact people, who if they'd spend more time studying and less time a happy hour maybe would have passed a class or two before failing classes, critizing St. James policy, leaving, then bashing us on the internet. Do they have no life of their own? What do you think Doc Ron? Seems to me to be a person who needs to take a long hard look at themselves in a mirror, decide what is more important: studying or surfing internet chat rooms. If they choose the later, maybe they should rethink their career choice.

To all the prospective student I say this: Believe none of what you hear, half of what you read, and all of what you see. Keep in mind that only a few of the students at these schools posts. Go to bonaire and see the school yourself. As a successful student, I'll recommend it to any serious person.

Best of luck, and sorry, I needed to get that off my chest!

Hey orthochick...

...congrat's on passing. I just wanted to ask where you took your step 1 and which month did you take it. Also, how long were you preparing for the exam?
