There is a new rumor being spread around the island that our school is in the process of closing. Yet, SJSM is building faster than ever before and more students are applying than ever before. In addition, the school, not too long ago, just re-signed a new 10 year contract with the island to continue to go strong on the island.

Now we the students here in SJSM and faculty know that these rumors are being spread by one person in particular who was a former employee of SJSM but is now affiliated with the other med school on the island...Xavier. Yes, the Xavier administration (one in particular) are not able to recruit SJSM students as much anymore because many students realized that it isn't worth transferring there, paying more per semester for the exact same education (the school is runned mainly by ex-SJSM professors recruited to teach at Xavier for higher pay). The only 2 classes to graduate from Xavier school have all consisted of SJSM students (2 students in Aug. and about 5 or 6 in December...all former SJSM students). Xavier now has students transferring out (including 1 student returning back to SJSM), and for this new semester, they received no net gain of students (received 3 new students and lost 3 students to transferring out). I might be off by one or two students (1 or 2 more transferred out or in), but you get the pcture. That is the reason such rumors have been started.

Notice Xavier does not have much advertisement, because they have a parasitic-type relationship with SJSM. SJSM brings in the students to the island and the adminstrators of Xavier say whatever they have to, to get new students from SJSM to transfer to Xavier (including such nasty rumors as the one mentioned above). It has been this type of practice since the start of the school and mainly from the same administrator. It is VERY true and now it is time to tell it like it is. It is crazy when you have people in the community asking you these questions because they heard it from an administrator at Xavier (who gets more money for getting more students to go to the school....).

This note is not intended to "bad-mouth" Xavier and definitely not to hurt the students at the school (as many of them are formerly SJSM students and are my friends). However, it is intended to set the record straight, and hopefully get Xavier to do the right thing and get their own students and professors and stop trying to thrive off SJSM. That is just a crying shame....

SJSM is here to stay, so recognize the truth when you see it.....

True in most instances but this person doing this is well known to me. We are on friendly terms, in addition, he is sending me the same type of stuff.

Anyone who chooses to attend a school that has been in operation for five years and produced two residents and then transfers to a new school with zero track record of any kind........what the heck, i won't bother, it's just beating a dead horse. Some people refuse to acknowledge reality.

I taught at SJSM for awhile and xavier opened up when I was still at SJSM. Xavier raided SJSM for faculty and students from day ONE! SJSM has never stooped to a low level. We all know it's true!
