Reply to Xavier rumor.

I use to teach at saint james and when I was there, all I heard about was xavier and to a smaller extent st. martinus trying to steal students/profs from saint james. The fact is that saint james has never resorted to tactics at those levels and has never tried to steal students from other schools. If anyone has questions about this (I hit my e-mail once a week), you can reach me at my nom de guerre e mail:

Well just to let all of you know SJSM has 15 (+) residents right now and this year probably 5 more added including myself. They finally updated the alumni check it out for yourself (www.sjsm.org) . I dont want to bash anyone but how can u talk about a school that has been established 5+ years and Xavier with a little over a year and no residents? Doesnt make sense to me. We all really need to work together. Act professional guys, we are all going to be physicians in the end. Good luck to you all

All schools struggle in the beginning

Let me tell you a story about a kid who picks up tennis at 10 years old. She has to compete with all the big dogs on the varsity team to just make the cut. After making the cut. She jumps from the last player on the big team to the number one doubles team the next year; then the number 4 singles player the next year and so on... till she becomes the top player on the team. Do you think schools like St Georges and Ross became great over night? Over one year or 5 years? I dont think so. That was my point. SJSM is headed in the right direction. Improvements from 2 residents to 20 residents is a HUGE Deal and you dont even know all the students that transfered in the beginning because of people like you who scare them. Why? We all should work together because you know why? BECAUSE WE ARE ALL FMG's!! The only thing the program knows is that your an FMG. If you want to be a known FMG its called a GREAT BOARD SCORE. Trust me I know from going through the match this year. The programs carefully look at the entire package including your personality which is huge part. All the people I know that I have rotated with are getting the same interviews I am getting and they are applying from all over the world and all across the islands. So I suggest stop bashing eachother schools because its a waste of time! Good luck to all the future physicians

Also a lot of 3rd years transferred I think and that would make a difference in the number of residents. The school needs students in clinicals to have them in residency.

so basically what you are saying is that only 3 people per year graduate? if that is true makes you wonder why 95% of the student body transfered out.
