oh yeah, and hello Teratos....

Oh yeah and good to hear from you too Teratos... I haven't participated much on the forum for quite some time and it is good to see familiar, educated, mature people still providing useful information and comments.

I don't talk about other schools facilities much, if at all, because I've never been there and I've never seen SJSM.

Yes, electricities and modern convinences are important, especially to students who are currently in the thick of things and have to bear the day-to-day living conditions. But, overall, it does not impact licensure in significant ways as long as the basic infrastructure is there to meet the basic physical infrastructure standards required by various accreditaiton bodies. Plus, physical infrastructure deficiencies are relatively easy to fix -- all you really need is an adminstration that is willing to spend money (perhaps it seems easier said than done). Heck, my wife and I still laugh about going to classes all sticky and stuff because the water tended to cut off on the top floor of our dorms in the morning "peak hours" when I was in school... annoy as hell when we were in school, but it has no consequences in our licensure process.

So, this is why I don't jump onto threads about electricities, toilets, heat/air... etc. Things like legality of rotations, affiliations, charters... etc are much, much more important, and much more difficult to resolve in the long run when you look at the big picture. And one does not need to see a school in person to talk about these issues... My only point here on this particular topic is that newer schools nowadays cannot sit back and try to compare itself to established school's infancy 25 years ago and think that they have time to "catch up"... They simply don't have 25 years, perhaps not even 5 years, to be up-to-par with the established schools nowadays. Newer schools need to look at new schools in the US and how their path is... that's a more realistic comparison. I've personally seen two new US schools went up since my graduation, and they became "up-to-par" very, very, very quickly. That's what newer carib schools need to aim for...

Best wishes,

P

Doc Ron

I think the point that LSWiltshire is making is that his school is never bashed in this forum- ours is .

The fact that he is not practicing in any of the 50 states at the moment is insignificant—he has practiced at some time- you are yet to practice.

Furthermore the world does not exist in the USA only- there are other places in the world where good medicine is practiced.

Next he has never attacked you personally – so why do you always attack him?

He has a right to bash our school as every one else that does so on this forum. Nor has he asked you for a truce. Why are you asking for a truce, and asking him not to bash our school?

The fact that he is in a position to know the names of teachers at our school who are applying for jobs elsewhere, also tells me that even though as you say ( and you have no proof) that he has gotten fired from every Caribbean job he had teaching , he is now currently in a position of some prominence or privilige.

In other words he is clearly better off than when he was at your school or elsewhere.

If there are things that are wrong with your school- if facilities are poor you should get the authorities of your school to have them fixed.

It is not your school- you just attend it why do you think that you have to defend its ills?

Why do you think that you have to attack others to do so?

Your notes speak volumes about your maturity.

You can attack me too if you like.

When LS Wiltshire posted on the AUA forum, the information posted was confirmed as factual. When ever he posts, the information posted cannot be denied. When he posted on the SJMS forum, your colleague confirmed that he told the truth. Why don’t you like the truth?

Since LSWiltshire is no longer at our school, how does he get accurate information about what is going on here? Some one here is telling him? Perhaps that person or persons at our school are not happy with the facilities either.

Perhaps you should just ignore his posts, because HE HAS TOLD THE TRUTH ABOUT OUR SCHOOL ALWAYS. Remember I go to school here too.

whats with this "immature" thing. i get called immature twice by docron for expressing my opinion. now he gets called immature for expressing his opinion by someone alse.

is this "maturity" card a common thing that gets pulled when you dont agree with someone on st james' forum?

maybe we are all immature for bickering on an anynomous web forum. who knows?

Thanks, I am rarely called mature. Good to see you pop in from time to time..., it's nice to know the old-timers can still get up and around.

New schools have some advantage in that they can learn from the mistakes of the older ones. The "pioneers", I guess SGU, AUC and Ross, were starting from square one. Hoping to exploit loopholes in laws to start a med school. The gamble worked. They are now pretty well established.

Some new schools do shady things. Unproven, and potentially illegal. AUA with the "twinning" program, St. Chris with the charter issue. Will they work out and become common practice in the future? Maybe. Would be to the benefit of the schools that employ such tactics. We'll have to wait and see. Until then, the lab rats are gonna have to put up with some ranting. Hopefully, for the sake of the students taking that chance, it will all work out. G

Facilities are so important to parents

Id hate to send my sons of to a school where a lecturer falls through the floor down to the next floor.

Doc ron will you deny that Mr X or Y or Z fell through the floor at SJMS only last week.

Did he not fall thru some flooring last August also?

Is it reasonable for parents to send thier students to school where falling thru floors occurs?

Come on bash me again. LOL But deny the facts above- its all over the Carribean already - and not necessarily on this forum.

When you done bash me go and see if you can get it fixed.

Im sure your fellow school mates are not just lying willy nilly about your PERFECT SCHOOL that no one must comment on by telling the truth.

Iswiltshire....

Are we gonna have this truce or not... I don't wanna bash you anymore. That is not who I am And I know that bashing the schools that you feel did you wrong is not who you are either. We are both God-fearing people....

To newstudent2005:
If you are really on the island, we should discuss OUR school sometime over some iguana soup (my treat). You should know who I am because I am an active memeber of SGA and I just did a presentation 2 weeks ago for the school for Grand Rounds, Case Presentations.
And just for the record newstudent2005, Iswiltshire HAS attacked me personally right before he left SJSM. Many of us were "attacked" by him, including faculty. But I am putting everything behind me today, and would like PEACE.
