frankenstone,
Yes, to your credit you called and posted physician affiliation. But what you failed to mention (and should have been told by your school's office) is that "physician affiliations" such as the one with Brigham are illegal. And when I pointed it out, all you did was jump up and down about how we are trying to put down the school. What you SHOULD HAVE DONE (like any reasonable student would do) is to call your school again and find out other "physician affiliations" that your SJSM official claims to have and make sure THOSE physician affiliations are legal (ie hospital supported)... but you didn't do that. You jumped up and down about how we are trying to put down your school -- YOU ARE RIGHT, WE ARE, because your school is doing something that's illegal and unethical. YOU as a student should be more concerned about this than we are, rather than calling us names. You said we post negative things about your school. Yes, they are negative, but they are true. Our opinions are supported by facts from medical legislations and experiences of being licensed/boarded IMG's who attend national meetings on IMG issues. You have yet to tell us what part of our statement is untrue... all you have done is name calling rather than discuss the issues. P

support
I did nothing to the effect of support the misinformation. I said it was deceptive. Does that sound like support. My inquiries got it removed from the website. That doesn't sound like support either. But I won't tear down the whole administration and the integrity of the school over this. Because there are honest people there that I talk to with honest intentions, and if there is a legal question in issue I will let the admin deal with it. There are plenty of other wrong things that I point out to them. But I feel collaboration is better than criticism. I did do some research and there are 9 hospital affiliations. Plus I talked to some stidents in rotations. I'm satisfied and the issue is over for me.
As far as negativity. There are twoways to approach matters, with a negative view and a positive view. One or two people here definitely look for the negative. Not all mind you. Frankenstone

usual splitting
as long as the view is ion accordance with your own it is all good and no matter how vulgar one makes a point it is defensible with all your energy but as oon as people call into question things in a constructive way without name calling and merely stating or asking for facts then it all goes the way of bashing....
so if asking tough questions and pointing out things that may be trouble for a student later on then i guess i am a chronic basher....so what does that make the preverbial sunshine boys in s&a side of the fence? i would call that show "gay eye for the inept med student" (not gay in homosexual tone but happy since nothing but positive goodness can be talked about)...golly gee can we talk about the marvalous colors that sj has chosen for its logo...my that just screams medical knowldge and the way the layout of the website has all those words that you can click on, this is obviously an institution that should be credentialed at once....3

I know of one Spartan grad, who flunked out of Ross. She just hated living in Dominica. She was sexually harassed by a professor (which really could and does happen everywhere) and just could not do well. Last year, she matched in internal medicine-pediatrics combined program. She scored in the high 80's on her boards. At Ross, she didn't make it thru her 2nd semester. Another friend of mine, went to Ross and failed step 2. He passed it on his second try but could not match. He wanted internal medicine. He scrambled into family. He is just happy to have a job and he is doing really well. My point is that there are no garantees in this field. I know USA program directors from Spartan and people who are working as used cars salesman. But I know of one Saba grad, who failed his boards 7 times (that is what his friends told me). For sure, he failed it more than 3 times, that he admits to... What I want to say is that these shools are not all bad, they serve a purpose and many of us are very happy with the outcome, even without CA approval, because we would never work there, regardless... You guys have nothing positive to say, ever.. Neilc is like chronic negative Mach truck that runs thru this forum, putting down every school that is not the big three. Picard, rrod, same **, different smell... Have any of you guys ever been to St. James? Your knowledge is based completely on this forum, websites, and what a couple of people tell you. You cannot/will not/have not/dare not see the positive in anything that is not on your "established" list. Nor has it ever occurred to you, that people are happy where they are... -s&a |

you are right
there are the positives you mentioned to these schools and i agrred with you on the spartan forum but every few weeks these positive points are overshadowed by some ourageous claim by a school then most of us jump on it to ask about it, then it turns into a week long discussion that sometimes degrades.....
all is well for a few weeks and then another claim is made by same school or another and the cycle starts over again....i guess i am a chronic negative poster because of this continuing cycle! every few weeks same old crap...hey someone has to keep it real but i do agree that these schools are there for some people and a good fit, but you have to concede that their unproven status or limited work ability do not make them a first choice for competitive students....
