Thread: sign....

The new school sign is now up at SJSM. It is very professional looking and it looks awesome. All students, please comment. The finishing touches will be done this week to make it nicer. IT definitely looks GREAT!! Our own Pdawgcentral, Kirthi, ELena, and yours truly with some locals (friends) help put up the sign. It took a good 3 hours. School faculty were very impressed with it.

Can you post a picture of it?

Why do students have to put the sign up?Did you guys have no sign before?
I am interested inSJSM but this is a bad sign that the school did not have a proper sign in place.I have seen some schools like that before in belize.

Pls respond ASAP,I want to know if SJSM is the one for me.

We did have a sign previously. Now we just improved on it :P

It's not to say it was awful in the first place, but the placement of the sign wasn't ideal and it was not as big as it is now. Thanks to Elena, we now have a beautiful looking sign.

One more thing... I hope you don't base your decision on which school to attend solely on it's sign...

Dude,

We had a sign but i was getting worn due to being in the sun near the equator which is STRONG. Also, the sign was smaller so it was time to get a big one that looked really nice.

To all sjsmfolks
I seemed to have offended some people here.Normally Schools & Universities have a maintenance dept. and they do this kind of jobs.Mainly because injuries to students can cause lawsuits.Plus students
have never done maintenance jobs in US schools,though I have heard of work for study programs in some African rural communities.
As a matter of fact as I was searching through the forum(I am a newbie at valuemd) I found a similar post at Windsor where poor/disadvantaged students ride the school bus in return for discounted tuition.
If you read the posts at Windsor you will realise that school is really going down hill.That as they say is the proverbial sign.

As you pointed out that the Sign had faded, but the question still remains that why did students have to fix it,particularly in the strong SUN, near the equator.
My apologies to all who were offended by my post but honestly sometimes people might judge you by what you post.

SJSM does not require students to even lift a finger when it comes to maintenance or any other school related chores.We take it very seriously.
Clarification 2
Do not even compare us to Windsor.If SJSM is Cheese,Windsor is Chalk Powder.
Clarification 3
If SJSM does give any contract to outside vendors, they are paid & as such they are completely compensated.And if such vendors enlist students for working for them that is illegal and an infringement of Netherland Antiles Labour & Immigration law.So the question of students working for SJSM directly or indirectly does not arise and is not a official policy.

Sometimes we get a lot of irresponsible posts but they do not represent SJSM school & corporate policy.

I have seen your posts and it seems you would like to practice in CA,Pls call our 800 number & speak to Dr Pandit.SJSM anticipates CA&NY approval in about the time you will graduate out.And if you are in premed ,you can be sure this will be a reality.

Compensation issues aside (only because I am not privvy to the details) I do know that Elana's artistic talents were the cause of her being asked to do the new sign. It's an excellent job, for sure.

To clarify, there is no effort to obtain CA approval on the table at this time; however, NY is preparing a site visit according to Dr. ****. The timing of that is "soon" per Dr. G. I guess that's why he's doing the cosmetic touch-ups.

Let me clarify this once and for all to those who would "judge me by my post".
Elena has a talent for doing signs and that is why she is doing it. SHE DID THIS IN THE U.S. along with business window paintings..

This is not a Windsor situation, if you read how the school has grown you wouldn't make that comparison through pure deduction.

If St. James hires someone then they pay them. Cero is the full time maintenance guy at St. James.

Elena offered her talents to the school because she wants to see it improve cosmetically.

So, I think this conversation should end. Let's not make something bad out of something good...
