Thread: Housing Info for Anguilla for September 2012

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone has started to look into housing and living expenses for the fall semester. I looked at a few apartments and they don't seem that bad at all. Actually very cosy. Any ideas would help. Also, a room-mate would be nice.

Forgot to mention that I found out about a 1-bedroom apt available in Anguilla for $500/month; semi-furnished, spacious living space, 1-bathroom; in walking distance to main valley areas. For further info call 1-264-772-3113. Was on a bulletin board at the school. It is available now; Ask to have detailed pictures sent for long distance viewing. Download the free "WhatsApp" software onto your cell phone & they can send pics through instant messaging.

How was the campus? Were there areas of the island that are nicer than others? If you could pick an ideal spot to live, what would it have been?

For those interested and looking for housing, currently have a 2 bedroom, 2bathroom apartment, fully furnished in a quiet neighborhood. Ideal for studying. The apartment is located near a grocery store (5 mins walk or less) and is approximately 10 min drive to the school. Rent is $1100 including internet, cable and water. Thanks for the info from your visit. I read previously that as long as you came in a week before you could find housing easily. How early do you guys think I should start looking for a place? I was hoping that I wouldn't have to buy a car. Would a bicycle be sufficient? I figure I could save money and lose some weight >.>

Hey, for whatever its worth, I'll share what was revealed to me during my visit to the island recently. I heard from the mouth of the real estate agent, that SJSM utilizes, that she is concerned that students coming a week prior may not find the housing of their choice and may have to settle for whatever they can find, due to such a large incoming class for the fall. A bicycle can suffice if housing choice is near school. The students also seemed to be willing to carpool & help others with transportation needs. Again, for whatever its worth...I'm using this phrase because you are being told something different from Chicago administration re: housing. That prevailing thought may have been accurate for previous semesters, but not for September 2012.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try and make a trip out there soon. I just got accepted recently so I'm running around getting documents notarized, my picture taken, and loans... (yay).
