    Health Insurance?

    Advertisements

So I'm with Cigna and am going to Bonaire in Sept 11'. Does anyone from the US have any suggestions for the health insurance I'm going to need to get. My insurance is through my work and as soon as I quit, I won't have it anymore. Please let me know what options I have and at what cost.. I still have 2 months before I have to send my info to the Chicago office. Thanks!!

For the sake of satisfying the paperwork, technically, you could get your insurance to write you a letter on letterhead while they are still providing. The letter just needs to state that they will provide coverage for you if you traveled abroad. It doesn't matter if they state you are only covered in emergent situations according to my advisor. If you do the aforementioned, at least you will have what's needed to satisfy the documentation.

It's not that bad unless you are not from the US.

Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

I went with HTH Worldwide and they have a special plan just for US Citizen students studying abroad which also covers the cost of the hospital that is behind SJSM in Bonaire.

    health insurance

Hey, so just get your current insurance to send you a letter that states that they will cover you on an emergency basis when you travel overseas. You don't need to have insurance while you're here. I'm in Bonaire right now and most students took that route. They just had their insurance company just write a letter. Hope this helps.....
