    Saint James 2011 Residency Match

    Advertisements

I'm very happy to share this with you. You can also read it on the school's website (sjsm.org) under News/Events.

    2011 Residency Match

Every year residency match becomes more and more competitive. In the current economic situation many ACGME approved programs close down or change ownership and cut costs limiting the number of residency spots.
We are very pleased to inform you that Saint James School of Medicine students did great and got positions in very well established programs like the University of Louisiana, the University of Iowa and the University of Alabama.

We want to give our sincere thanks to all of our graduates for their hard work and effort. They have made Saint James proud of their accomplishments. Future graduates can be assured that hard work and commitment to their dreams will pay off one day.

    CONGRATULATIONS

    Thanks for the information.
But i have one confusion by looking at the list.
Since there are about 25-30 student each semester in each campus, there should be about 50-60 Candidates that graduated from SJSM. (At least 45-50).
Out of the number above, only 19 got matched? am i correct?
Please correct me if im wrong.
If only 19 students got matched out of 50-60 graduates, isn't this really bad ratio?
    Thanks.

The Anguila campus is new and I don't think they have been around long enough for anyone from that campus to be in residency yet. I believe these students are just products of the Bonaire campus. I know one of them is for sure. However, the school office could verify that information for you. Good question, though. Overall, I'm encouraged by these numbers especially the harder residencies to get into like Neuro and Psych. Plus that one Canadian match is awesome. That doc was telling me that they have very few spots in Canada and it is super competitive.

Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

    thanks for posting this!!
Im actually impressed to see so many internal medicine matches and also to see that almost half of the people got matched in illinois. Really encouraging since im from chicago.
But yes, i agree with skshin above...
but i think that these might not be all the people, and that SJSM probably hasnt received everyones match maybe?
still nice to see these results.
Our goal: to be on this list soon...

dang i wanted to see NY on that list but my second choice is on there and that's GA. Phatman remember the school used to let student sit for a few months before they actually do take the test, so some will take it on time while others used to wait as much as 9 months from what i heard from this girl who went to St James. Just like Hopefuldoc said the Anguilla campus just opened and was just listed on IMED this year so noone from there yet. each class usually start with 45 at the most from what Admin told me so your number is a bit off, and you can imagine the people who transfered and the ones who got left back so to me 19 is a great number if they only started off with 45. I just know my name will one day be listed on the website. So dont worry about the number who matched, YOU WILL BE FINE PHATMAN

The 2 neuro matches were at rural/community hospitals if i'm not mistaken. nothing major there...congrats nonetheless to everyone.

second, how is there only 19 matches, regardless of just being the Bonaire campus. I'm sure there were more than 19 people in the graduating class. how many were there? please someone fill me in.

well first let me start by saying if you cant just give a compliment without your neg remark about the 2 Neuro not being major then you need not to comment at all. Dont come to St James, go to st George or those other schools then you wont have to worry much about a graduating class, who cares anyway just work yOur butt off to have your seat at graduation when or if you ever get there. you have alot of nerves to take away the accomplishment of these guys who have worked so hard for the past 4 years, and you are not even a student. DON'T COME TO ST JAMES

Guys, guys, everyone chill a bit. Regardless of where the position is, it is a great thing seeing SJSM grads match. Let's all be happy for these new docs! We will be there ourselves one day so keep things positive, please!

i was talking to mulberry and since he is all mighty and think a neuro match is not a big deal then come on then to st james and match into something a lot more based on your standard, jut give a compliment and keep it moving becaus where im from people would ask you WTH you think you are. just be humble in this experience.

Hey guys keep in mind a lot of people do not report back to SJSM. I guess some get fed up with the SJSM staff or something according to senior students. So there are possibly more SJSM students who matched... therefore there are more than 19 students who matched....most SJSM alumni do not care about SJSM.
