Thread: Calling to the US

Hey guys,

Ill be on the island tomorrow and I need to make a call back home for work on Friday. I probably won't have my phone with me so what is the best way for me to call in? Im looking for something cheap and clear. Is it still prepaid even if I don't have a cell phone?

Your best bet is to go to the Digicel store in town and get a cheap phone to use. You can dial to the US but its like 50 cents a minute or something. Don't use the payphones with the credit card things. When I first got to the island with another student, he used one and they charged him $70 to his card.

We had internet service here when my roommate and I got to the Island, so he used Skype to call home. There are tons of other services online like iCall and Evaphone that you can use to make a call home.

Yea Gmail has it built in now also.

Google voice doesn't work with the Anguilla area-code.

Actually, no, it could cost you up $3 per minute for some providers to do this. It is always best to find out how much you will be charged. If the definition of cheap is something under $.50 (USD) per minute, then you most likely should get pre-paid plan with either digicell or lime. If you have an unlocked phone, bring that. If you don't, a new one will run you close to $40 (this will include the sim card).

Dude just use Maicjack i use it all the time..but u have to have Telbo internet service or you can use the school's high-speed internet service

Get a Magic Jack, only 40 bucks a year, call to the us from anywhere in the world. It's really worth.
