reply from st james grad

hi everyone,

i have been reading all of the negative posts on this forum, and i wanted to put my 2 cents in...i graduated from st james after transferring from auc to st james since st james offered u.s rotations and i will be starting residency this july...while i was at auc i remember lot of students transferring and professors leaving and many of the same complaints were overheard there...going to a caribbean sch is no vacation and its definitely a tough road; as a student you have to have perserverence and the wherewithal to work hard thru the obstacles...

i remember the 2nd week at auc a huge category 5 hurricane blew threw st maarten and as a result i did not have electricity or water for 3 weeks...many students quit and left, but i took "showers" with Wet Ones baby wipes and plugged on...instead on constantly complaining, work hard and always remember you are in a caribbean sch and work hard to prove yourself to your colleagues, attendings, family and yourself.

i completed all of my rotations with st james in georgia...i rotated with emory students and med coll of georgia of students and i felt comfortable with my knowledge base...however, i studied every night and i was always the 1st one in, last one out in all of my rotations...i took time off for both steps and took the kaplan course and passed with no problems...i'm no brainiac, and it took ton's of hard work but i made it and so can you!

i admire st james for not removing every negative post on their forum or here, since they want students to have the whole picture...every sch has its positives and negatives; remember how marines had to bail out st georges students during the grenada rev or when monsterrat volcano blew up displacing all of the auc there...i know practicing physicians who were there for both incidents and they persevered and now are practicing and flourishing...

i wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors and please do not hesitate to pm me if you have any pertinent questions

Did you pass your Step 1 before starting your clinicals with St. James?

As for removing negative posts here, I dont think the moderators can or should do that (unless the post is extremely vulgar and offensive), and as a rule they dont remove negative posts in any forums.
