I heard that the outlet voltage is different in bonaire. Do i need to buy a cooling pad for my laptop or is that a waste of money? The last thing i want is for my laptop to overheat (I have a Macbook if that matters). Thanks for any replies

511 points Probably not. I've never used one and my laptop is fine. It's pretty much the same as using your computer anywhere in america during the summer (assuming you get temps. in the high 80s low 90s).
518 points A cooling pad isnt going to do anything if you're having voltage issues, that would be more a matter of having a very good / high end surge prtotector. Cooling pads are for minor things like when your CPU overheats due to excessive demands being placed on it due to an inferior graphics card or lack of memory or HD space.
Macs don't tend to over heat, as long as you're not blocking the air vents with clothing or blankets like when using your laptop in bed or placing it directly against your body, it should be fine. If it's going to be placed on a desk regularly, a cooling pad is not necessary. You can get one if you want but ... Get a really good surge protector instead
