Do not Join St James -read why

They will make all kinds of promises to help you become a MD but once you join they are only intrested in your money they do not care you make it or not. There is follow up once you leave the island, they do not even want to know who is sitting there USLME and also they do not prepare you for USMLE like other coleege do.

The staff at the US office are very unfriendly , you canot even speak to owers of the school. The staff rude and have no concern about future of the students. In any other college the college are very much there to help the students and but not at St James.

They had promises us that student loan was in process and until than they would postpone the fees. Now that I am ready for my USMLE and I was told that unless I paid all the fees in full they would not release my papers. I ageed to have a payment plan but they want full payment. They are only intrested in money not the students hardship. With the economic climate my dad lost his job and there is no way to get any private loans to pay the fees in full. I guess after two years at st james, I will have to stop here as they are been very selfish.

If they had not promised to postone the fees When I started, I would have gone to other schools who have better staff both in the office and at college and a loans provider.

Anyone going to school, Please beware the owners are after your money , so try other schools there are lots other good cheap schools with student loans. I can send you list.

PLEASE DO NOT JOIN ST JAMES MEDICAL SCHOOL.

I am going to see my senetor and also writing to all the medical bodies who have certified them so they can be removed and lose their US licence.

I am not the only student they doen this to. There are lot other who are out there who have given up after two years.

I could be worse. I did pre-med and md here and all I have after 3 years is $90,000+ in debt. I have had to start all over. I have posted this info before. No one will listen. St. James will keep taking money and students will keep handing it over.

MD4 I am really sorry to hear what has happened with you. Something similar happened with me too at SJSM. This school should REALLY SHUT DOWN!!! They make promises they can't keep and show dreams to students who are willing to go to any end.

I personally know of 4 students whose lives they have ruined and they transfered out to other schools. Your case is worse, coz you are back and they are not helping you in any situation. They need to be SUED!! This school has one semester worth of my money and for me to sue them I will have to spend atleast 5k to get that money back, which is not worth it.
MD4 - plan before you take any step. I was frustrated with their ambiguous policies, I did consult a lawyer to fry them but it would end up costing me more. Moreover, you need to be in the Chicago/ Bonaire jurisdiction in order to get something going.

Try writing to O/ or his office - doesn't hurt. I wish you well and hope you are able to sort this out without getting too much damage.

With such a well thought-out post, I don't know where to begin.

I've never been promised anything but an education and a shot at the USMLE.

How often did you speak to the president of the university where you did your undergrad?

Many students get loans from the Davenport program, Canadians can get government issued loans, or you can take out a private loan.

That is the same for every college everywhere. If you do not pay your tuition in full, they will not release your transcripts or give you your diploma.

Not the school's fault. If you want to blame someone for that, blame the banks for writing so many bad loans, the automotive industry, and our former president.

They want what is theirs/what you owe them. If anything, you are being stubborn.

The school has refused to let students take exams until they have payed their tuition. I have seen this done in the US during my undergrad as well. Nothing new here.

They will surely take you seriously once they see your proficient writing.

They give up becuase they can't pass the USMLE. I'm sure you wouldn't either.

I am a little confused about this post....

are you saying that when u attend st james, when your first 2 years are up, you have to pay the payment in full? thats close to 50K, how are we (as students) supposed to get that kind of money?

I know if you attend a med school here in US, they have federal loans and whatnot along with delayed payment plans until atleast 3 years of residency is over, but wow, I didn't know thats not the case with st james

You pay for the semester you are currently in just like any other school. There are no US federal loans available.

ok underestood.... but most of us don't have that kind of money to pay for education (or atleast all upfront).... and your saying loans are not an option, so ur saying unless you have rich parents, SGU is not for you

You would have to take out a private loan. I've also been hearing about students doing something through Davenport...but I'm not familiar with that option.

I just wonder how legal the Davenport option is.

Yeah...I've wondered that. But, since I don't know much about it...I'm going to reserve comment
