St james graduates and residency information...CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT!!!

im currently an MD3 student here at st james. so lets get one thing str8, there was a general concern about those who have graduated over the past years...WHERE HAVE THEY GONE!!? and this was the same question i had raised up as well on many of the school meetings. Well by God's grace, the school FINALLY updated the sjsm.org website. click on the alumni page. there are over 30 successful graduates who are in residency/ those are already practicing.

Now the IMPORTANT thing to remember here is...these people listed on the alumni page...graduated from a class of less than 10(they were the first students at st james...so the numb) so this is a HUGE achievement. dont believe it? google them and find out..thats what i just did!!!!!!

ALSO...the number of students from st james, which includes transfer students from AUC, saba, MUA, ross, gautemala medical, who have signed up for 2009 match are over 30 as well. where did i get this golden information? well...from the owner/president himself. he has been on campus for the past 2 weeks, and will be for another 2 weeks because our school is getting ready to be examined by the holland medical review board, which qualifies us for a bunch of things(only positive of course!!!).

there are over 200 students in clinicals from st james, and right now in basic sciences, we have 55 students in md1, about 30 in md2, 33 in md3, and 52 in md4. thats over 160 students.

our school is legitimate with the known facts, and these facts and stats have sources...i just thought id share them with all of you who are considering this school, or those already here, to not give up, and that our school is actually pretty reputable in comparison to others!!!!!
btw, the md4's who have graduated from basic sciences in april, their class size was around 35. i personally know 8 who have passed(i only knew a handful of that class). scores? 97% was the highest, 92% second highest, and the rest in the 83-88%percentile. these are jsut the ones i know, who i keep in touch with thru facebook
power is in numbers people! the numbers and stats are there!!!!

    Alumni stats

medschoolmania thank you for all the info. I also googled some of the alumni from the school website list and found some of them practicing in various states. The scores you mentioned look pretty good and I really appreciate some first hand info from the students attending the school right now.

Thanks for the info, this is great.

There are MD practicing in NY, and TX which do have requirements for which medical school you graduated from. This is good news.

How do you verify the MDs?

I do not frequent here anymore, I get attacked in the forums and by PM's.

I'm in 4th year at SJSM.

I know of at least 5 SJSM in Residency and 2 Doctors in Georgia alone.

I have the same problem as others with finding money to finish.

The current US situation for loans is bad but I will dig up the money and finish in 2009 as I planned to.

Basically VMD is a place to come to and find out some info on the schools but schools like SJSM get attacked because its not one of the "Big 4" it is low budget and it has some issues. I frequent another site, but I discuss all schools there not just SJSM. the goal should be the focus not the school.

If you go to SJSM just study hard and keep your focus on the goals, ignor VMD and you will be better off, Its a lesson I should of learned a long time ago. No matter what is said here students still attend the school and many of us are moving along through clinicals onto residency ( which I hope to start next year).

    Good luck everyone.

thanks for the info, I'm a prospective student to SJSM, I know two people whop went there, one is MD3 and the other is MD4, both passed Step 1 and they said it's not bad, you just need to focus on your studies and in 3rd year you're in the same hospitals with other students from other schools so just study, study, study.

WE all got negative views because you relied on the web for our info, and like medschoolmania said they FINALLY updated their web site.

And by looking at the names, I'm not surprised that almost half of them are Desi.

i posted this up because MANY MANY current students who attend st james in the basic sciences program and the pre med portion as well, were not fully informed of the updated website. however, being the overly curious and cautious person as i am, i have delved over this issue for a great deal of time now. i would like all prospective students, to just realize that this school, with the LIMITED resources that they had in the begining, really and truly is becoming a MUCH more reputable, respectable, and professional carribean medical school. the school is currently in over drive with the renovation of the current building we are in. however, do NOT be mistaken by the exterior facade. the talent lies in the professors, who convey the information over to the students, and then its up to us to really ingrain it ourselves. the owner dr. **** had recently had his building permit passed, in which the blue prints were finalized and looked over and he has his land. i know the students from my class will not be able to enjoy the new institution once it is built, but i will be very proud of it for sure. however, the majority of the students right now are anxious to see if we are able to get the Holland Accreditation considering they are officially taking over all governmetal positions in Bonaire(which is amazing news!!!) and that would automatically make st james elgible for many rotation and residency and licensing programs in the united states!!! im just a very well informed student who gets his information first hand. wither from the president of the SGA, or the Dean of Basic Sciences, or the ACTUAL owner himself!!!!! so just have no fear, but do remember this and this is an echoing theme at every med school all over the world....the teacher can teach, but the student has to learn. and medicine is one field, where u reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly make it YOUR LIFE to learn. these are just my two cents : ) : )
