I was just told by almost every student i spoke with that when they brought their computers back to the US...they pretty much burnt out.
Thats is what i was told and when you hear these things more than once by several random people...you may wanna consider their suggestion.

sorry this is a different post than the cadaver post..but it was on my mind while i was typing about the lab.

Mikel

yes this is true but the Island suffers from occasional power surges so a really good surge protector works too.

I'm planning on bringing a surge protector/UPS to help protect against the blackout issues.

I'm not quite sure what is meant by "burnt out" though. Does this mean that the battery becomes unusable? Could you please clarify this?

Thanks.

A few of the people in my class have had their laptops crash completely this semester. Mostly Macs. Your laptop is going to run hot here because of the temp, it heats up really fast so definitely bring a cooling pad for it! My cooling pad died a couple weeks ago and right after that I lost my wireless card so I know it was because everything got way to hot in there. If you want to extend the life of your battery here just take it out when you are at home and leave your comp plugged in when you use it. I use a converter on mine so haven't had any issues with the surges (knocking on wood since I still have a day here til break ) so it's a good idea to bring one just to be on the safe side!

Hey Dochotrod

A laptop Cooling pad is basically a tray looking object with built in fans. some have one fan, some have 2 or more. I didn't know what it was either, but if you use google images, it'll give you an idea. it runs from 25 to 75 USD. Some of them have other extras built in.

Yes, I saw cooling pads too being from Canada, I had never heard of one either but we learn something new everyday
They run about $20 max so that is not too bad. I did not find any at b est buy but they have 3 fan one at tigerdirect for $15.99. To go back to the subject of Anatomy lab, I need to know how many labs per week do we have? I need to estimate glove and mask requirement . I would appreciated if someone can let me know.
Thanks
