don't confound negativity with realism...

if she did get it that is awsome and she deserves it but being that ortho is one of the most difficult residencies to get meaning chances are slim even for US grads, meaning chances of prematching are probably non existant is why i asked. she mentioned pre-matching bnut not the specialty she went into.

you are right it doesn't hurt it actually is awsome for all of us when a carib grad sticks it right in the face of the US grads showing them up. if it is not accurate however then it hurts prospective students like the person on this thread who is now "sure" sjm is a great school because of one possible ortho match. it isn't, it has a long way to go to be a first choice destination in carib education but it is doing good enogh to be a viable option to become a physician.

btw i don't think my school is a first choice either-i think people should try ireland, israel, australia before sgu then auc ross saba then work their way down from there. and this is becaise i am a realist not a pesimist though sometimes bringing reality to the life of others who don't know much about foreign education makes it seem like it i guess

HEHE.. .that was actually me - I didn't say SJSM is a great school - I just said that I'd feel a lot better attending SJSM if someone did get accepted to ortho surgery.

I hear what you're saying about ppl needing the right info, but why would anyone on this forum want to lie about what residency they got? Doesn't it seem too weirdly pathetic to lie to a bunch of nameless/faceless strangers on the internet about what you're doing? (unless you're affiliated with the school itself & have something to gain by students going there).

The best site I found was :

St. James School of Medicine

it's a fairly short list & EM isn't listed as one of the residencies that someone from SJSM ended up @.

Maybe current students @ SJSM can give better answers.

Orthochick drops in periodically to give an update. She's never embellished anything and having known her, I have no reason to doubt anything she's said or done. She was an excellent student and ortho was her passion. As to her revealing her details--I sure wouldn't ask her to do that. There are people who visit this web site that would contact that program and cause problems.

i agree 100% if she got ortho then that is just awsome for her and she should make sure it is posted on the school website. as muc as people like to keep things secret once you are a resident you will be on the hospital website in july so specially with such a small school it will still be easy to verify and find
