My visit

I actually really enjoyed my visit. But I think it helped that I had just come from St Lucia. I was not very impressed at all with St Lucia. I expected more from St Lucia and a little less from Bonaire. But it was the other way around. Bonaire was clean and everyone was really nice. My husband and I had a great time. The school was a little plain, average, and a lot smaller than I pictured. Everyone is right when they say it is just 4 rooms or so....but not a big deal. I am not going to St James for a beautiful school. It has all the basics I need. I met a few students and Della in the school office. The students seems super nice and they said everyone really works together there at St James. I also liked the new student center across the street. The biggest selling point to me was safety. It seemed very safe and I felt comfortable. I thought if I am comfortable...then I will study more...and do better in the long run.
I was pleasantly surprised...and I made my decision then to attend this school...I guess now I have to learn how to dive !! ha ha

On the menu bar at the top of this page is an "Album" button. If you click on it and then on the St. James hyperlink you will find about 5 pages of photos of the island and the school.

Not to burst your bubble but a group of students were jumped a few weeks ago and one was left blind and had to go back to the US. It isn't as safe for us here as you may think.

I can understand if StillTrying means that he enjoyed his visit to SJMS after having visited the two bogus schools in St Lucia……….because schools that offer experienced physisians $1500 per month ought to be avoided at all costs! Schools that don’t respect their staff ought not to exist. The bottom line is not all!

I would rate SJMS above the two bogus schools in St Lucia anyday........and everyone knows I am not a lover of SJMS. So you can understand.

However, as a tourist destination (apart from the diving and the roving donkeysl) Bonaire cannot be compared with St Lucia by any stretch of the imagination. There is just not enough to see in Bonaire.

In St Lucia there are The Pitons (one of the most glorious sites in the Caribbean), Soufriere the walk in volcano, Pigeon Island, Rodney Bay, Morne, Canaries, Anse La Raye etc

Honestly,

Bonaire is a safe place. These things happen everywhere. I have been here for about 16 months, and this has been the second time this sorta thing has happend. I admit this should be happening and the police need to be better, but most students go out at night and are safe. drdanierae is correct, he is NOT BLIND, he is getting back in january. There was somone who had there bike stolen, but people should keep bikes or scooters in there homes, or lock them up at night, just like any where else.
