Will a debt card work in bonaire?

Hi denro,
If your debit card has a visa or MC logo on it, it will work on the island at the ATMs and most of the stores and restaurants. However be aware that your bank may charge you fees for withdrawing money from an ATM or making purchases in other countris and these fees can be high. Some students were assessed fees as high as 3% of their balance for withdrawing money from ATMs here. So check your bank's policies and fee structure in advance. If you need to, open an account with another bank with lower or no fees. You also have the option of opening an account here on the island. Just bring a letter from your bank that specificaly states that "you are in good financial standing with them".
