comparable school??
comparable school? are you kidding me? why do i put down another school??? b/c it's surprising when something out of the ordinary happens at a school that has no licensed grads, no cadavers, no campus, no facilities.................and most of all, no credibility.
gee, why is it surprising?? let me see, would it surprise you if a kia could keep up with a corvette in the quarter mile?? yea it would, so that's why it's surprising that a school that is for bottom-feeders would have a match in radiology..........if you ask me, it's a fake..........just like the affiliation with that harvard hospital you guys had on ur website a while ago.............remember that??!??! |

MUA dude - try hard work = Success - all medical schools in the US or islands use the same books. So as far as the knowledge bases goes - we are all equal. So your Kia vs Vette is sort of a lame analogy.
This person followed the heads down approach to success - he/she earned it. |

Medicine is a personal effort and regardless of what school you go to, the bottom line is do you pass the step 1,2,3. The school responsibility is to provide you with the materials and guidance required to become a physician and the rest is upto to the individual. I agree that the vette analogy doesn't make any sense, and lets assume for a second that it does, so even Harvard ("The Vette") has defective students (Parts) and may not perform as well as other students (Kias) on a race day. So, the choice is yours.......

I agree Chessman - I was going to post a pretty catty response to the put down - then thought better of it. Your school's reputation is a fairly small part of the equation. It only matters if you are going for a top competitve residency at a top learning hosiptal.
The reality is most US and Islands grads are going to FP/IM/Peds residencies. Cause thats where 70% of the jobs are in the US market. The other 30% will do the other stuff and find their place in the mix. Many of the websites will say they take FMG's - the reality as I posted on the MUA_N forum was these places may say it but and the big but - is when you check who they actually took - They are for the most part from US schools. This poster is pretty much a newbie and is just discovering the FMG's facts of life. Guess it was sort of a shock. He will most likely not wind up doing CNN commentaries - be a Berverly Hills Plastic surgeon - or be on the heart transplant team at Columbia U's medical school. So it goes... |

Also for all their posturing on this forum AUC, Ross and SGU are about the same as middle tier US medical schools. They are no way even close to the top one hundred US schools. So their reputation is about like a good state medical school. I have said this in several places and so far no one has flamed or done a rebuttle nor offered any evidence to disprove me.
So that leave the rest of the island school less than those other middle tier schools. Chances are in the next year St James will have NY approval and be equal in the eye of NY to AUA - SMU - MUA-N.

MUA which, but neither are al 50 approved so not the top carribean school! You do not need an MCAT to get into either MUA dont say you do I know people at both who do not have one. You do not need a ** degree either. Cali has passed MUA Nevis by St. James: Cadaver Lab New Has a Donated building from the Government Purchased Land to build a new Building Has a new affiliation with a Medical School in Peurto Rico that also has a Hospital program and students can go to both schools. Has had some rough times mostly caused by others (the clinical students were "stolen") Not for profit with a philosophy of affordable tuition. So far successful grads in Residency Started in 2000 and yes has had a slow start up. We will have to wait and see But your infromation has proven to be lacking on the school and you are attempting to bash another school, the administration of VMD may have to keep an eye on you for doing that. Keep to the facts. MUA is not the #1 school in the caribbean so there is room for that school to improve too. Personally DOCTORMUA I have encouraged people to go to MUA N. in the past and now As well as AUA, yea if they ask about SJMS I tell them, no candy coat here, the school needs to continue to improve and it has and will. MUA N. for the moment is ahead of SJMS with NY approval. People should go where they are comfortable and feel will work for them. SJMS will work for me and others. I hope you do the same and do not "Cheerlead for MUA" tell the truth, the negative and the positive. If not you will regeret it. Good luck and lets leave it alone! I guess what we are saying is you are just one in a long line to go picking on other schools. Rah Rah - my school is better than your school. So that point is really pretty well old and worn out on VMD. Grow up. Be supportive of others. |
