Plastic hangers are available at some stores if you don't have space for them.

what about food? Should I bring canned food and cereal if I can fit them in? Is it worth it?

I was wondering how many tshirts (staple clothing) I ought to bring. I figure it'll depend on how often i'm able to do laundry. Is it easy to get a machine on the weekends? I figure i'll do laundry every 2 weeks.

You can find everything on the island!! the supermarket has about 20 different kinds of cereal and different kinds of canned soup, stew, soup, etc. however, some are a little bit more expensive than for example
Wal-Mart in the US, but I think it's much better to get them on the island rather than taking them from here.

7 days/week x 2 weeks x #shirts worn in one day = total # of shirts needed

LOL. I know, it's a huge change moving to a totally different country, but I'm positive you'll survive with whatever quantity you manage to cram into your suitcases. Just think if you had to move somewhere more temperate and you had to pack sweaters, snow boots, and gloves! Oh, and like any laundry facility, the machines are busy on weekends. Do your laundry on a weeknight and you'll be much happier.

damn...that's a hot formula! I'm going to write it down...
I'm actually not having problems cramming stuff into luggage. I have alot of room. It's just that I can't stay under 50lbs total between two bags and i'm worried about losing my luggage if it goes into "standby" on liat. However, i just spoke to my footsteps buuuud and he said that i probably wouldn't lose everything and am again reassured.

I don't think so. It's a person who is in the same program as you but a year ahead. That person can answer your questions and make your transition easier as you prepare to move to grenada. The school should have emailed you the contact information, check the sgu email. Mine contacted me as well. I think it's a great idea so try to get in touch with that person.

Footsteps buddy for Jan '08 term? They should have contacted you already, unless you were admitted very recently.
