Great list DrNick. Got a question about cookware. It seems like a pain to pack a big pot or pan or both in with my luggage. Is it worth it to bring these items? I DO plan on cooking.

Also, I haven't started packing yet, but not sure if I'll be able to fit everything in two pieces of luggage. I've read about shipping items with Amerijet, though. Does anybody have any thoughts/opinions on this? i.e. getting it all back to the mainland, etc?

pots and pans are expensive in GND and not of very good quality, so if you are planning on really cooking, then its worth it. There is however the possiblity that students will be selling thing when you get down in the fall so you may get those cheap- if you have access to the sgu website, you can check the SGUPost- students are always selling things there.

bring a comforter. it does and can get cold during the night. dont bring a heavy winter one tho. a light-medium one will do.
i have this light down comforter (100-200 thread count) and its perfect. it also can be packed and squeezed into a very small lump and doesnt take much room in my suitcase.
otherwise get one of those vacuum bags

Dear Students,

As you pack your bags, please remember to include the following supplies in case of an emergency. While most items are available here, they are probably cheaper and more varied where you're coming from.

(And if you have a little more space, please pack a paint brush to help us in community projects to repair Grenadian homes damaged by the hurricanes.)

Personal Emergency Supplies to Keep on Hand or Organize Quickly

Flashlight or Lantern (small AA battery light is fine)
Batteries
First aid kit

Water
- Bottled water or gallon containers for drinking water storage
- Unscented bleach (8 drops/gallon) or water purification tablets

Nonperishable foods
Special dietary foods
Manual can opener
Eating utensils

Waterproof bags (i.e. Ziploc bags)
Heavy trash bags (for keeping clothes, books and other personal items dry)

Hygiene supplies:
- Personal (special or prescription medications, toothbrush, soap, sanitary napkins)
- Dependents (diapers, formula, etc)

Insect repellent
Sunscreen
Hat with a brim

Handy items
- Duct tape
- Clothes line rope
- Swiss army knife/Leatherman
- Cloth or canvas work gloves and/or latex gloves

Valuable papers store in waterproof plastic container (i.e. ziploc bags)
- Passports and other vital information (i.e. insurance documents, telephone numbers, photo ID with home address, financial papers)
- $200 or 300 of cash (both ECD and USD)
- Treasured photographs, jewelry, etc

Leash, Cage, Pet food & drinking water for pets

Top off gas tanks (if you have a car)
