not very. I wouldnt say easy, not not hard. How's that for vague? its very doable but you need to be a solid student with great clinical grades.

Be a solid student. Do well on boards, and you will have no problem becoming a surgeon as an SGU grad.

Now, why would anyone want to become a surgeon is beyond me 8)

Well, I guess it's tradition:

Medicine hates surgery, surgery hates everybody, and nobody likes ER. 8)

yep

Yeah, that's it. Its sort of a like a similar little mantra about different nationalities that I wont repeat here. The great thing about rad onc is that no one understands it so they've no opinion of it (or if they do it's totally inaccruate).

What's so bad about being a surgeon??

Do you know the difference between God and a Surgeon?

God knows he's not a surgeon

Aside from that, the hours are long. In a lot of cases, the hours don't change much after residency. The pay for surgeons is going down, and you work long hard hours. Some people really enjoy it, and it doesn't make much of a difference to them. For some people it just isn't worth it. G

to be a surgeon

I think the best advice really has been surgery is for those who really are only happy in the operating room. That sounds obvious but Ive known people who' ve gone into surgery "because they can" (i.e. they were flattered by a surgeon that they had talent, or they had very good board scores when it was more difficult to get into) and those folks hated it. Good advice in general is make sure you love doing day to day what it is you do.
