Hotels close to campus

My dad wants to come down to grenada for orientation, where are other ppls' parents staying during that week if they're coming? What hotels are close by and not ridiculously expensive? Thanks,

Viraj

hotels

As a student, you can get deep discounts at area resorts, just don't be afraid to ask. The Rex Grenadian is the biggest resort, quite close to campus, on a private beach, and you can probably get a beach front room for $100 a night. The true blue bay resort and marina is a place where I have stayed. The rooms are beautiful ad the service is topnotch. It is directly opposite SGU (across the bay). You may be able to get a room for around $100 a nioght, but it may be more expensive. There are also several resorts on Grand Anse, but it's about 10 mins from campus and they can be more fickle with the discounts. good luck!

mariposa

Another good one is the Mariposa. It is on Morne Rouge bay, and has great views, good pool, easy beach access, and a ten minute walk to Grand Anse campus. It runs around $75 a night.

Closest to True Blue

The closest hotel would be True Blue Resort. Be sure to ask for the student discount rate for your parent, it's a short walk to catch an SGU bus (<5 min) or you can take a taxi to campus. The Rex Grenadian is by the airport and has taxi service. They have the best deal I think for students and their families... cheapest room was hillside for 70 US (2 beds). Beach front is 100 US with our discount, and they have some in between. They've got a really nice place. The more expensive resorts are along Grand Anse beach, they give discounts as well but are still pricy.

Hope that helps.

la source

consider la source which has all inclusive stuff that you can have fun with too when you spend time with them visiting.

parents visitng during orientation

I just wanted to know, do alot of parents (the majority) visit during orientation week? I previously read someone's post stating that orientation week is a big bonding thing among students. Just curious. thanks

either way

parents usually visit at some point or another; it doesnt matter if its orientation or later. The "bonding" happens first week but be warned; its a little like college where people cling like they are best pals after two days...eventally you find youre real friends.
