refund check question please

Hello,

Anyone had SGU send the refund check to their parents to deposit in the states?

Dont you have to sign the check? Do they have you sign it and than send it to your parents. Or do they send it to you in the states before you leave for grenada?

What did you guys do with your refund check?

Merci.

i have my check send to me here in GND and then i signed it and write out the deposit ticket and fedex the check home and have my mom deposit it for me. but i only do it if i need the money within this term, but usually i have enough money in my bank acct to last me awhile.

when bayshore sends out the check it is not signed by you already.

i used the money for food, rent, and my living expense when i go back home as well. the rest i save them up and deposit them in either the saving acct or CD with INGDirect.

fed -ex costs money...no need

you don't need to sign the check if it's only getting deposited. u only need to sign it if ur cashing it. you can send the check directly to home and have them write "FOR DEPOSIT ONLY" on the back where you would normally sign. u save urself the expensive cost of Fed-ex from GND. then u can just use ur ATM card to withdraw from down there.

No bank has a prob if ur just depositing the check. it's taking out cash that's always the issue. if u weren't for real, u can deposit money in my account as much as u want; i'm still going to be the only one to take it out.

WHY pay money

Why people are spending money to FedEx their refund check amazes me when you can FedEx it home for free. Here is how. Go to housing and ask for your refund check to be placed in the bicpack. The bicpack is for official buisness only and it "closes" at 100pm on weds...i think. and it arrives in Grenada every Friday.

The bicpack is a fedex envelope that the schools send to bayshore weekly. In it you would place your check in an envelope so that when bayshore gets it they will place a stamp on it for you and then put it in good ol reliable US snail mail. Its free.

ALSO. TO DEPOSIT A CHECK YOU CAN HAVE ANY BUM OFF THE STREET WALK INTO THE BANK AND DEPOSIT IT FOR YOU!

I had bayshore send it directly to my parents. I just had my dad put on the acct before i left so there's no hassle. But my bank put the check on hold for 10 days (it isn't available til 9/1) because it wasn't verified by bayshore or something annoying. But there's no reason to have it sent here if youre only gonna send it home anyway.

Same here, I had them send it straight home so I wouldnt have to deal with shipping and my dad deposited it with no problems. I dont need the money right away but I also dont like having a big check laying around.

I have it sent home

If you want your refund check mailed to your parents, just call Student Finances and tell them the address. I have done this the last 2 terms without any problems. You might want to send them an email too.
