No they don't run out of phones. There's always a phone to buy.

But the cheaper phones run out fast, so do your phone stuff first if you want to avoid that from happening.

there are public phones but they dont really work hahaha.
u can do email when u get here to folks back home.
dont think there are phone cards here...

the best plan is the pre-paid ones. get like 20EC phone card for ur phone and just make a short call home and have them call u back. its free for u for the incoming calls.

Which service is it free for them to call? Also, what does it cost to them? Dont want to rack up some of my friends' bills either.

all service plan has free incoming.
how much it cost? that im not sure. u would have to check with ur local phone carrier for the rates to gnd (area code is 473). what my mom does is that she buys phone cards to call me, so its only a few cents /minutes

When you do the pre-paid phone plan where you buy the 20-40EC, etc. cards for the phone, is there a monthly fee type thing for the free-incoming from the US, or is that actually free?
Also, Do you just buy a sim card/phone from the phone company that's made for a prepaid plan?

    Thanks,

If you are a first term student arriving Wed or later (the official orientation period), you should receive a 15EC phone card from your RA to call home with. The public phones in the dorms only take phone cards, (which you can buy at many retail outlets), or you can use 1-800-CALL-USA to call collect or with a credit card, but I think that's like $3US/min.

Nope, no monthly fee on the pre-paid plans. The incoming calls are actually free, because the person making the call pays more for calling a cell phone (around 50 cents US/min or more). Yeah, you buy a phone/sim card from the company you choose for the pre-paid plan. They will be on campus during the orientation period offering student discounts (50% off).
