    Parents

I was just wondering what anyone's thoughts are on having parents/family coming down with a first-term sudent. Do a lot of students have parents/families come down with them or is it more convenient if just the student comes down at first and then family visits later during the semester? I would love to hear your thoughts and/or opinions on this topic. Thanks!!

lots of students come down with parents or their significant others...

Students do come down with family, and there are special tours for them during orientation week, plus they get to see the White Coat Ceremony, and you can use their baggage allowance to carry extra stuff down. Personally, I came by myself, and the family visited over Easter vacation. I don't think you guys will have much of a longer weekend for people to visit, just random days off, so the beginning of the semester may be better.

Don't be a little girl and come down by yourself. Unless you are a little girl then by all means bring your rents...

You never know who posts or attends medical school these days so. If you are a little girl either tiny or young, birng your parents, if your not a little girl come by yourself and save your parents the extra $800 or more per ticket. Although if you have a lot of stuff to bring down with you bringing your parents is a good way for you to bring more stuff down and not have to pay for the extra weight. So basically do what you want.

if you're bringing your parent(s) down just so u can bring some more stuff down, then its not worth it. It costs less to pay for extra luggage than pay for an extra ticket. If you're bringing your parents down to see the island, help you settle in and give moral support (plus get extra stuff in) then definitely bring them along.
