Ross vs. SGU

My question is everyone knows that SGU cost more than Ross and AUC. All three schools graduate can practicein cal and texas so why would you all want to pay more to go to SGU. I have applied to and gotten accepted to ross and sgu, but was wondering were to go and after doing alot of reserach i just cannot tell the difference btw ross and SGU. Perhaps grenda is better living conditions than dominica.

So please tell me why you all picked SGU over ross which is less expensive.

decisions

i made my decisions based upon safety. i had a friend who went through there and said that there were a lot of issues of security in dominica. i dont know if much has changed.

Re: Ross vs. SGU

I would not recommend anyone going to a private, for-profit, offshore caribbean med school. The education is not accredited by the LCME. In any case, a recent comparison on StudentDoctor.net shows that there is almost no difference between AUC, St Georges, and Ross when comparing percentage of residency and breakdown of competitive residencies.

NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL IN COMPETITIVE RESIDENCIES OBTAINED FROM AUC, St GEORGES, & ROSS. That said, it is highly unadvisable to spend such money at any LCME unaccredited, offshore, caribbean med school.

No really? Would any of us be here if we'd gotten into a U.S. school? For your info, LCME doesn't accredit anything outside of the U.S. and Canada.

well then SGU don't copy off the LCME educational model to export your grads to the USA. Follow your own country's model and keep your docs in Grenada. If you want to act like the big US med schools, you need to abide by the same rules. NO ACCREDITATION, NO LICENSE. PERIOD!

ok thanks mr troll.. now back to the original question.. sgu offers a better campus, more hand holding, and more organized clinicals for about ~50,000 more over the 4 years. Program directors who have sgu kids rotating at their hospitals know the difference and pick their residents accordingly. When its all said and done you are basically at what amounts to the very top of the bottom of the barrel. I've said it before if you want peds, fp, im, psych both schools will get you there but if you are making the push for something competetive sgu will give you a *marginally* better chance. SGU is also a much smoother ride. I have never heard a single ross grad describe their dominica experience in any pleasant terms but most of us had a great time in grenada and vinnies.

Hehe

Hehe, trolls are nice to keep around for entertainment though. They set the standard of what we aim not to be.

There was a discussion in regards to LCME with a professor who recently taught us here at SGU during the "I want to go back to Texas meeting".

Supposedly, LCME could psosibly investigate off-shore schools.

I don't know the details, but Restlesseye, you should check with those at the meeting to shed light for people here.

LCME limits class size. SGU wants to milk as many cows as possible. Currently the turn down 3/4 of all applications and still take 350+ a year. Get the idea?
