I don't know the details, but Restlesseye, you should check with those at the meeting to shed light for people here.

GREAT NEWS! If your rumor is true that LCME would begin invesigating schools that are copying off their system, then that is bad, very bad, news for the for-profit, offshore caribbean schools which is ALL of them except for UWI in Jamaica. No way that ANY of the caribbean, offshore med schools would pass each and every criteria used to accredit LCME approved schools.

i heard a little something from that meeting. apparently we turn down LCME repeatedly year after year because we dont want to reduce our enrollment. they would like to shrink us to 1/3 of what we put out.

LCME is taking charge

Yep, got the idea. I know exactly what you mean. If the LCME has its way, the beneficaries are the future US students as this would perhaps put an end to these unaccredited, offshore carib school, and the impetus would be on the powers-that-be to create new med schools in the US.

And I thought I said I was done entertaining this troll.

More unsubstantiated lies from Roper. SGU, as well as Ross and AUC, have passed all evaluations from various official/licensing bodies. This includes the US Department of Education, and all of the states that require site visits/accrediation reviews (CA, NY, etc.) Oh and you might want to see:

http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A03045&sh=t

Excerpt:

Quote:
AN ACT to amend chapter 576 of the laws of 1975, relating to authorizing the commissioner of education to contract with certain schools for the purpose of expanding opportunities for residents of New York state to study medicine or dentistry, in relation to authorizing the commissioner of education to contract with the university of Padua, Padua, Italy, the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin, Ireland, St. George`s University School of Medicine, Grenada and the Sophie Davis school of biomedical education, the city university of New York medical school for the purpose of expanding opportunities for residents of New York state to study medicine and dentistry.

For all intents and purposes, a degree received by New York students at the University of Padua, the Royal College of Surgeons and St. George`s University, School of Medicine shall be deemed the equivalent of a degree awarded by a medical school chartered by the State of New York.
So clearly, SGU is inferior to US med schools. Oh wait, did I just prove you wrong with facts? Please don't let the facts get in your way - they never have before.

What's LCME?

NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL IN COMPETITIVE RESIDENCIES OBTAINED FROM AUC, St GEORGES, & ROSS. That said, it is highly unadvisable to spend such money at any LCME unaccredited, offshore, caribbean med school.

lcme is the accrediting body for us schools. if you aren't in the north american or PR, it cant be LCME kosher.

search

Please, please, please do a search on this topic. The last time this came up the thread was locked and then DrB complained. So here we go again. It is just a matter of time before Ross and AUC students find out about this thread on a topic that has been beaten to death and we do another round of beating it to death again. I am begging you, do a search. Simply look for "SGU" on the ross forum and "Ross" on the SGU forum. Same thing for AUC or Saba for that matter. I'll go grab my battle helmet now.
