This is a very typical excuse to "chalk" it up to rumor instead of investigating it thorougly on behalf of the animals in confinement. Remember the Hurricane last year, when St Georges officials did all they could to delete posts critical of their actions/marketing after the hurricane? Same thing.

Thanks :-) And no, I have never deleted anything, because it's impossible to delete my posts on VMD. I don't even know if the moderators can, because even the dumbest threads that say "mistake, delete me" are locked, and not deleted. And no, I do not agree with any animal being tortured (including humans), but I have been living in Grenada long enough to know that the "rumor mill" tends to blow things out of proportion frequently and significantly, so I take everything that I have not verified for myself with a grain of salt.

Yes, they have the GSPCA. Also vet students take turns for being on call at the animal hospital for emergencies.

ridiculous

ok once again this rumor just adds to the stupid stuff people say. WE really need a better hobby around here than gossip. RIDICULOUS
also don't accuse another member here of covering for the school its bad form.

The dogs in question are in fact the security dogs kept by the school at the Grand Anse campus. As far as I can tell they are kept in large cages much like the ones that you would use to housebreak or transport your dog. All the dogs are large german or Belgian shepherds(yay) They are in an airconditioned room and are walked and exercised during the day by a guard assigned to them. In the evening about 5:30-6:00 pm they are moved to the true blue campus in a truck. They are used to patrol the grounds at night.
Also a faculty member from the school of vet medicine was there the day i was there. Trust me the vet students living at ga would lose it if someone was mistreating any animal and they saw it. I highly doubt they suspended a dog from a tree, maybe he was in his harness and tied TO a tree. Also keep in mind that these are guard dogs, not pets and shouldn't be treated as such, don't pet it you might regret it. I can say this with certainty because i spent 4 hours outside that building fixing my car last night and a good part of the day at grand anse talking to mr green jeans. Furthermore while i was doing my laundry last week i was watching the guards do training with the dogs and yes they were in fact being led by an american dog trainer.
Rumors suck you wouldn't want one spread about you so shhhhhhhhh
