Heys Guys/Gals
Sorry its been a while. Lots of stuff transitioning stuff and outside events going on (like my dad blacking out and seeing his BP shoot up and pulse drop to 33 BPM. Scary. But he is ok. Think some pill pusher internist put him on two drugs that dont mix well. he had complate cardio work up and nothing significant was found. He is home now)
Well I made a trip to bayshore to get everything straighten out thank goodness b/c many things get lost in translation on this forum. This forum is great dont get me wrong but when you get info directly from the source you definatly decrease chance of misinterpeting the typed word.
To summerize my trip.
1) First, its true. They love when u visit. Everyone is so nice. I meet Mary Ann my admissons rep, all financial aid people (Linda is who I deal with) and the housing person, Amanda.
Financial Aid -
a) good to get on there good side b/c they find you the money and with me having a masters and undergrad and grad debt we all sat down and came up with a plan. Ed-Invest is what they advertise but there are some sleeper loan companies out there they keep hush hush just incase options are running really thin. Lucky for me my concern is getting through the first two years only b/c I will be married by clinical years and will not need money for room and board and health insurance which will be a big savings. My wife -to-be will be will be supporting me. She has her Masters in Software Engineering and works for Federal Govt DoD. Plus my bro starts his practice next year as Aneasthesiologist so hopfully he will be there for me like I was for him when he was going through NJ Medical.
b) Was told that yesterday the aggregate went from 250,000 to 300,000 which is good. Thats means a student can borrow 300,000 of US federal and private loans total for education (undeergrad, grad, medical, etc.)
Housing - After getting approved for married housing we reliazed the expense of having my SO there would be to much especially when she can be in the US making a good income to support my education. (WHO WILL FEED ME THEN

) .....So I spoke with Amanda and she put me into True Blue Double. After talks and many different opinions about grand anse vs true blue I choose True Blue. The main thing is to understand that what works for somone else may not work for you. Best thing is to acquire pros and cons and True Blue vs Grand Anse and decide whats best for you. Even though I hear many good and bad about bus system my choice came down to
1) proximity - to areas I need access to (library, gym, classes, campus)
2) dependency - I try to depend on myself for most thing and try to mitigate risk. Although they say buses run all the time I "feel" more in control of doing what I want when I want vs waiting for a bus everytime I want to go somewhere. I would rather take a bus to go somewhere off campus vs worrying about getting on a bus to "get me to" campus. Things can go wrong with buses.
3)1st termers have to live on capmus. So I feel too much space or too little space can be bad. Learning the lay of the land in first term. I feel all I need is access to library, classrooms, gyms, foodstore, banks, internets, mail, phone services and I will be happy.
So Amanda is finding me a roommate. I just turn 32 chronologically but people think I look mid 20's. Plus biologically I am prob mid 20's. I am very into nutrition, fitness, anything that promotes relaxation, memory, focus, concentration. For a big guy people at first get intimidated but I am very compassionate and very non-competitive. Your success is my success. I think I have a lot to offer as former DO medical student. I dont smoke. Dont get me wrong I love to have fun and I am very liad back easy to get along with but I am here to keep my eye on the ball and get my MD. I love to motivate so from experience I know when you truely bond with people (male or female) and care about each others success, it is a very good counter balance for when you may get down and frustrated. If you are interested in being my roomie please PM me and we can approach Amanda at Bayshore.
Um o yea make sure all your paper work is done. Promisary Notes, Private loan apps, Med insurance apps, Financial plan letter, Consent letter to let others views whatever you want., All the stuff that otherwise would prevent you from registering.
Ok be back soon going to docs. Glad to be back. I should be posted I lot more since I am done with work now and can focus 100% on Grenanda.
Please if possible PM your email address, instant messgae names to me as I am trying to build up my address book, IM list for all Jan 06'ers. Tell me little about yourselves. Phone numbers, where you from, background blah blah and maybe we can chat before meeting
