Everyone needs to google yourself and make sure your address is not listed on any site on the internet. I didn't know mine was until I had a issue with a homicidal patient in the clinic on friday. I've gotten most of mine removed (some require a form and copy of DL). Local polic are doing drive by every 20-30 mins this weekend because our crisis team knew this guy and said he didn't need inpatient this time.

7160 points At least as of a year ago, IGA carried some organic foods like cereal, juice, occasionally pasta sauce, coconut oil, etc. The locally-grown produce is excellent and on average far better than what you will find at Whole Foods. The local chicken beats the organic chicken at Whole Foods any day. You will have the freshest and cheapest fish you've likely ever had if you go to the fish market. But just like with anything else on the island, your expectations will not always be met, there will be disappointments, but there will also be pleasant surprises. So be flexible and come armed with patience and an open mind.
7160 points Also IGA sells local Grenada Chocolate Factory chocolate, which is organic and Whole Foods actually sells that same chocolate in the US.

Seriously though the amount of information collected on people is astronomical and far beyond what most people realize. Most (if not all) states sell copies of information collected by the department of motor vehicles (or their equivalent). With that information collected yearly it's pretty easy to figure out who your family is (assuming you get a DL before you move off to college) and where you've moved in the US. Couple that with credit information and you start to get a solid picture of what a person is like. Do they pay cash for things? Finance? Live beyond their means? How much are they probably paying in rent? What kind of car did they buy?
One guy I went to college with worked for Wal-Mart corporate. They were trying to track each item in your basket and trying to come up with ways to figure out in what order you picked the items off of the shelf and put them into the basket. And this was over 10 years ago.
With the advent of MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and whatever else is the new hip social networking site is that doesn't actually sell anything (beyond advertising) realize that you, your attention and your information is the commodity in which they make the money.

6118 points As noted, the tropical fruits, veggies (I got hooked on callaloo), and fish at the downtown market are excellent, and cheap compared to prices in the US (the tuna, omg, the tuna). Beef is sorely lacking in quality and freshness despite the numbers of cows and machetes on the island. Temperate fruits (apples) are there but the quality isn't great and the price is high. The mangos, papayas, local lettuce (not iceberg), plaintains, oranges (which are green), coconuts, etc, are quite nice. If you're a fan of goat meat (yes) it's also fresh and abundant.
Honestly, I felt like worst value for your food money in Grenada was US frozen food. You'll do way better on organic produce than you will on hot pockets.
