Aurora Shooting: Suspect Opens Fire At Colorado Movie Theater, Killing 14
This dude was a student at the Univ of Colorado School of Medicine, I don't know if he was an MD/PhD or just PhD or just MD... whatever... but it's just unbelievably sad for not just the victims but so many dozens of people whose lives were intertwined with each victim and are now forever changed... and it's just so d**ned depressing in general

I guess under the ERAS Misc tab I can add: "Hey I didn't go to a US med school, but at least I don't shoot people!"

I know, too soon... probably tasteless... but hold your rotten tomatoes... this whole application process is some serious crazy-making, it's a miracle I can still put together a sentence, even if it is tasteless...

If we could dissect his brain... I wonder if we would find a pathology. Clearly something went wrong somewhere.

The other story in relation to this incident was the guy who left the theater and drove away... leaving his kid and wife behind.

With all the coverage these incidents are getting, I think psychiatry is a very high-risk profession to go into.

Back in 1991 there was a shooting at a restaurant in Texas. Twenty three (plus shooter) killed, 20 wounded. Deadliest shooting in the US for quite a while.

The result was the passage of a law that allowed concealed carry weapons to anyone who took a course. I know housewives in Texas who now carry handguns in their purse.

While you might think that crazed madman shooting people would inspire firearm restrictions I have experienced the exact polar opposite. Which I guess is my way of saying there's no telling yet what the repercussions will be yet.

Super unlikely. Except for old people and tumor people and aneurysm explodey people, they all pretty much look the same.

A homicidal maniac having brain pathology has precedent. That guy who went on a shooting rampage from the University of Texas clock tower was found to have a GBM on autopsy. There's no way to know how much (if any) relationship there was between the tumor and the changes in his behavior.

(I should really be sleeping but being up until the wee hours yesterday has messed up my sleep schedule. Damn you Bane!)
