Premed Program
I'm interested in the premed program at SGU. I have a ** in Anthropology, some premed courses, research experience, EMT certified. My GPA is low, and I want to start on with my Medical education. Money is not an issue for me. And I feel like US is not even an option. How good are my chances for acceptance for SGU's premed program? By completing the premed program ensure acceptance into their med school?
If anyone has answers please help. |

hey
Hey...I am in the Premed program....but I was a PA back home....I didnt take the board exams ..I decided to come here.... I dont have a **...I also was missing organic chem 1 & 2, Physics 1 &2....so they put me in year 2....they told me that its a set program so even if you have all the classes in year 3 you get put in year 2 because I didnt have those classes ... and then I go into year 3 and then med year 1....I applied to get a ** at the end of year 1 in med...I know people that have ** and thought they were going straight into the med program....but since they were missing some requirements they got put back in premed...but its not bad at all...I like it here...I can relax and take it easy and be ready for med....alot of students and faculty say that premeds from SGU going into med do ALOT better than people entering med directly....you also need the MCATS...and u need a good score...as from what i have heard...having a low GPA shouldnt be a problem...I would think from a 2.5 and higher should be fine...but below that i wouldnt think it would be easy...give it a try...apply...but 1st check to see maybe u have alll the requirements to get into med school....if u do then just take them MCATS......u will get acceptance into the med program if u keep a 3.0 and pass their so called "mcats" called PSCME.

premed program
Thanks for your reply. I really want to get into the premed program because I think it will help me transition easier into the med. I'm also looking into PA school as back up if I'm not admitted. Can you tell me what you think of the premed program/ PA school. Thanks!

Other options
There are other options as well. I got a Master's Degree in biomedical sciences, which has prepared me extremely well for the first year of medical school. I'm relearning and reviewing Biochem, Histology, and Gross Anatomy while many of my peers are struggling to learn them for the first time.
