510 points Lots of students I know use a Brita filter. The On-Tap type is popular. Though it is not necessary to purify tap water in Grenada, having a Brita is a nice luxury.Originally Posted by Groove
Ok, thanks. It mentions one in the materials, but I wasn't sure if we are needing to get a microbial filtering type purifier like I have with my camping gear, or just something from Brita that removes metal ions, etc.. I'm assuming the later at this point.
But will the Brita On-Tap thingy fit on a hotel faucet? I'm thinking no...?
Its gonna be crazy expensive to live off bottled water...![]()

Well, Brita seems to have pitcher systems where you don't need to necessarily attach to a faucet, but it seems less important to me if we don't need to filter for microbials. I think it would just affect the taste.

IndianBabu...for the hotel, I would recommend the Brita pitcher type, instead of the on tap kind, since I can't comment on whether the on tap type will fit in the hotel. Even if you end up buying bottled water in Grenada, it is probably the ONLY thing in Grenada that is NOT expensive...
Just a note that Giardia is on the island and many students have contracted it. So it may be an inconveience but filtering or boiling would be a good idea. Water supplies were also interrupted post hurricane... all should be fine now but I've had enough GI upsets to not take chances. Ultimately up to you ofcourse.

i purchased a brita filter at target for about ten dollars. it is one of the slender pitchers that should easily fit in a hotel fridge.
521 points do we need to bring ice cube trays or does the fridge comes with ice cubes making capability?
I posted the same question a few months ago before coming to Grenada and everyone kept telling me that the water was fine. Except for the fact that I along with many other students had diarrhea on and off for 4 weeks. Going back to the States the diarrhea stopped but now that we are back on the island I had my first experience today. Not fun...
So I conducted an experiment and took a 0.45 micron microbiological filter used in reserch labs and filtered about 0.5L of water. Needless to say the filter was clogged and to my and my wife's amazement the filter turned completely brown. A lot of students boil their water and then put it through one of those Brita , Pur filters which only filters heavy metals and pesticides not bacteria or protozoa. I would suggest bringing a camping filter for that because boiling the water takes a lot of time and is a pain in the neck.
Also be careful where you eat...
