Thread: computer geeks welcome..... sgu.edu email question

Does anybody know the pop or smtp dns or ip addresses for the sgu.edu domain backend email servers? I'm trying to log into the pop server directly using an email client of my choosing, but I don't have the needed information such as dns, port #, etc.. I can't seem to find the information on the web site either. I did a nslookup on the domain and couldn't get any helpful information other than sgu.edu uses a 3rd party provider (messagelabs.com) to scan and filter their email, which then routes it to the backend email servers, and that they are on the sprint backbone and use sprint dns servers to resolve sgu.edu domain queries. The weird thing is that I seem to get timeouts when I try to query the sprint dns servers directly for sgu.edu. Can anybody help out? Surely students access their email other than through "member services" on the website? Thanks.
